Default Matchday 14: Hull City vs Nottingham Forest

    Hull City vs Nottingham Forest

    Date: Saturday 28 October
    Location: KCOM Stadium, Hull
    Kick off: 17.30

The Reds make the trip up to Humberside to take on Hull at the KCOM Stadium. The two teams have met a total of sixty times in the league over the years, with Forest edging their encounters winning 27 matches to Hull's 24.

However the Tigers have been somewhat of a bogey team in recent times, with Forest winning just one of their eight encounters since 2010, their most recent encounter being a 1-1 draw at the KCOM in 2016.

After a mediocre start to life back in the Championship Hull will be looking to build upon their recent away win at Barnsley, while Mark Warburton's men will be looking to avoid a fifth away defeat of the season.

    Form:

    Hull City: W D W L D
    Nottingham Forest: W L W L L

    Recent meetings:

    Team styles:

    Did you know?

    • Hull contested the first ever penalty shootout in England against Manchester United in the semi-final of the Watney Cup in 1970 with George Best taking the first ever penalty kick

    • Hull City is the only team name in the Football League that doesn't have any letters you can colour in

    • When football matches were still played on Christmas Day Hull City and Grimsby Town were the only two teams exempt from playing because their fans in the fishing industry had to work

    • After Forest hosted Hull at the City Ground on 12 March 1977, the two teams didn't meet again until September 2010, 33 years later

Do you stick with Fox at left-back or go with Lichaj.

    Probably the biggest question.

Two teams that can't defend for toffee, live on TV. It's got 0-0 written all over it.

    Smith
    Lichaj Worrall Mancienne Fox
    Bridcutt Bouchalakis
    McKay Dowell Osborn
    Murphy

Id like to see Dowell back in that central midfield slot, thought we looked devoid of any idea without him. Also want Bouch in there to get us moving much quicker, with Bridcutt providing the steel.

Can't make a case for a victory, but we're good for a draw if we click.

The last thread was started by a Burton fan, so technically he lost.

    Smith
    Lichaj Mance Worrall Traore
    Bridcutt Bouch
    Brereton Osborn McKay
    Murphy

Can't decide between Bridcutt, Bouch and Vaughan. Can make a case for all three to start.

Think it will be the same team unless someone is injured, Happy to stick with Vaughan and Bridcutt, Would have Ward for for Cummings imho.

Those strengths and weaknesses are kinda bollocks right? It paints Hull as this super team and us as utterly dreadful, despite the fact they are lower than us in the table?

I'm going for a 'against run of play' 0-1 to Forest. Not because I think it highly likely, just that we're due one.

Will have to be 0-1 though, would be gobsmacked / well happy if we netted more than once against them.

(so 3-2 loss then, just to pee me off)

I would stay solid in this game for first hour which means Bridcutt and Vaughan start. Lost count amount of times I heard that Vaughan popped up just at the right time when someone got beaten or committed to and lost a challenge putting us in trouble. We missed that reading of the game. With Brudcutt alongside he’s not having to do it on his own now. I’d then go for McKay, Ward, Murphy and Osborne or Dowell ahead of them. Sub appearances from Carayol and Brereton.

What Liam Bridcutt alongside David Vaughan brings is (for me) two things.

A genuine ball-winner in Bridcutt who can break up opponents play and act as a spoiler so opponents don’t target Vaughan.

This also gives David Vaughan a defensive screen so he can act as a Playmaker, as he did against Burton.

    Was thinking the same

Christ, is this really on TV? The fixture usually bores everyone to death.

Not a clue on this one, it's just one of them games against a side that we don't ever seem to do particularly well against no matter how good or poor they are.

I think a solitary goal will do the job either way and we aren't exactly clean sheet specialists.

Why did you decide to drop Vaughan?

I thought his introduction back into the line up was one of the most significant positive changes.

I think 'odd' is a good thing. Oddness shows originality, uniqueness and a desire to be different from the masses. Oddness is, maybe, only deemed 'odd' by the majority who are considered less odd but only by their own blinkered observations and understanding. Oddness should never be criticised but be encouraged to nurture, develop individualism and to explore the mind rather than conform to expectation and 'normality'. Many of the world's greatest works of art and prose were born from those minds many considered to be 'odd'.

I honestly hadn't heard of him and had to type his name into google. With hair like his I'm glad we didn't sign him. He looks like a bit of a Lansbury tbh
