Default Matchday 13: Burton Albion Fan Comments

Not a great deal on their forum that I could see...

So strange playing forest and hoping for a result, Looking at their side and only Murphy gives me cause for concern, i cannot find any stand out players. Two good full backs, McKay-Osbourn-Cash--Cummins Clough-Dowell-Ward- Brereton, all good championship player no more. I don't like this feeling of expecting a result.it feels like a dark cloud hanging over me. Will take a draw...

They try to play football from the back every time. Loads of possession but very predictable normally and often little end product.

We can let them pass it about a lot and just stay firm and solid I think.*

They are weak on defending set pieces.

    Mckay is dangerous.

Forest were there for the taking in the first half and we should have at least scored one goal. We invited them on second half and handed them a goal on a plate that they did very little to create. Generally when a team goes a goal behind they push on and try and get an equaliser but we became more frantic, lower on quality and by the end looked a really poor side.

That barry on their forum is a bit of a wally.

Great support today for the team apart from the moronic burton boys. What an embarrassment to the club, even the forest fans went quiet after hearing some of the bile they were chanting and to cap it off they start a little skirmish between themselves at the end. I guess they've been spoilt these last few seasons and cant deal with these difficult times.

I thought some of that chanting was an absolute disgrace. Supporters? - don't make me laugh.

Forest arent very good, there centre backs were poor in the air but we couldnt get a goal!!!!!

Thought at times in the first half we looked the better side (after their initial pressure). We had 3 or 4 good chances but didn't put them away. Looking at the replay for their 1st goal it looked like it was easier for Bywater to catch it. Overall 2nd half we lacked creativity and when Dyer was clattered in the box surely a pen.

What was actually chanted by both sides that is considered problematic?

I thought the same. I sit above the LB home fans and canít recall hearing anything of an insulting or offensive or derogatory nature.

I think 'odd' is a good thing. Oddness shows originality, uniqueness and a desire to be different from the masses. Oddness is, maybe, only deemed 'odd' by the majority who are considered less odd but only by their own blinkered observations and understanding. Oddness should never be criticised but be encouraged to nurture, develop individualism and to explore the mind rather than conform to expectation and 'normality'. Many of the world's greatest works of art and prose were born from those minds many considered to be 'odd'.

I couldnít hear anything from the back of the Trent End. Having said that, the wind probably didnít help on that front.

I work just outside of Burton and the Brewers fans that I know tend to be a decent bunch. A lot of them are fairly recent converts (historically Burton has always been a rugby town) but they hate Derby- that makes them OK in my book.

Theyíre not a pretty side to watch by any means but, for them, every game is a battle against the odds as they try to take points from a side with a much bigger fan base and deeper pockets than themselves. I donít blame them for playing for a point away from home. I hope they stay up!

I sit in LB 3 seats in from the segregation with the away fans.

I have no idea who or what the Burton boys are or what they were singing.

I sit near the away fans and struggled to make out what they were singing, the only two I did hear was 'Al-bion' and 'Derby County, they're better than you'.

Although these last few years must have been a great adventure for them it must be frustrating to know you've probably got as far as you'll ever get. Their football and the 0-0 draws is also enough to dampen anyone's spirits. People go on about its a results based business and Burton's priority is to basically avoid relegation, but imagine watching that every week?!
It's bad enough watching Forest at times so I can't imagine sitting through that every week.

Not knocking their fans though, the ones I met yesterday were a sound bunch.

The Burton fans hating Derby is a strange one. Where I live its 50-50 Derby/Burton fans. Most of the sheepies want Burton to do well, and often go to the Pirelli Stadium when Derby are playing away. The Burton fans in my local are a decent bunch in comparison to most of the 'ming-mong' sheepies. .

It’s a bit like us and Notts County in that respect.

That’s what I’m trying to say. Derby have the same ‘pat them on the head’ “oh, bless” mentality towards Burton that we have with Notts.

If Alan Hardy has a blueprint that he want to follow with Notts, he could do a lot worse than to look at what Ben Robinson has done at Burton!
