Bad side? I really really really really really didn't like the combat. It was fiddly, illogical and didn't feel in any way in control of everything.

I managed to beat the demo but at no point did I feel like I knew what I was doing besides hammering square and giving potions.

Unfortunately it's everything I feared from FFXV.
Did you think? I thought it wasn't like FFXV as just mashing the slash button does so little damage that every battle would take forever, so you had to build up to bigger/more powerful moves.

I thought it was fiddly to begin with but by the end I was starting to put moves together and switch between characters a lot more smoothly.

We have to remember that section is essentially a just tutorial, it also missed a few bits out of that section that will be in the main game, there is flashback sequences when Clouds head goes.

It's just ramped up my excitement.

There’s definitely a feeling that you aren’t in total control. It doesn’t feel so considered as the original, due to it not being turned based, and it doesn’t go all in on real time battle like XV.

Hopefully once the game is it out and we’ve played it for a few hours it will feel more natural.

Read a fair few folk slating the combat on a few games forums too. Really hope it's not a mess.

I liked it, so to hell with the forums... I will not have my fire dampened! (except by a viral infection)

Thing is I loved everything other than the combat. I'm sure once I play the full game I'll get used to it.

Still immensely hyped for release day.

Bit more to do than just spam attack and potions. It was difficult for me to get my head around

Not really. The FF games have far more fantastical stories, and way more variety & depth to them too. Similar gaming mechanics in certain areas, but it's like saying Muric & Shilton are the same.

I can't stick the Pokemon games. These are usually way better.

Pokémon Yellow would go on my top 10 of all time

I played an early one and there seemed to be a lot of talking and not much smashing anybody up other than taking it in turns to do so....

There's not much traditional Streets of Rage style action in most of them, it's all story & thinking.

FF15 has more action based combat, but I prefer the turn based stuff in the earlier games to chill to. I can then nod off if needs be & pickup where I left off after if I do.

Anyone ever played Final Fantasy Type-0? I really liked it, bit different to normal FF games, similar gameplay to Crisis Core.

Yeah, I couldn't take to it tbh. Liked some of the ideas, but not really my cuppa overall.

FFXIV is cool so far. Got all the friends playing as well, hopefully we could reach end game by the end of the free month so we could start raiding.

I paid 0 attention to the story tho.

Read a rumour that the story is gonna be different, and that this is actually a playthrough of events post Advent Children, due to the magic of time travel.

    Has to be bollocks Shirely.
