Not so much with Final Fantasy VIII. Due to the fact that the monsters grow stronger as you do it's more beneficial in VIII to just run away from the fights anyway. Just draw the magic you need to junction and the game is incredibly easy as you tear through bosses like they are paper. You don't even need to do that when you can convert cards into items and then into spells.

That's why it takes away the point of the game, there is no challenge

I am quite enjoying it so far, although I think I have spent 75% of the time playing triple triad.

So addictive! I spent about two hours getting a whole bunch of decent cards off the nurse early doors.

And being able to play at 3x speed makes it all much quicker

Any of you chaps ever played Shadow Hearts: Covenant?

A lot of similarities to the old PS1 era FF games. Brilliant game too. Great mix of darkness & humour.

Best RPG series on the PS2 by a country mile and one of the few gaming series I would drool over a HD remake of on modern machines.

I got about halfway through and my disk corrupted and never finished it, would love to play it again but I guess unless I pay an extortionate amount of money for the game and buy a PS2 then I haven't got a chance. The piece of music, I think its called Town of Twilight from it is brilliant too.

I thought the wrestler guy (forget his name) was hilarious.

Joachim was mint, funny as fuck.

Dare say you can get it on emulator for the PC if you have one chap. No idea how you go about downloading or installing it though. I've got my head around the 16-bit era stuff, but that's all straight forrad.

Also, just playing through Tales of Brseria for the PS4.

Not in FF's league, but a decent enough sub if you like a bit of JRPG-ing.

The Tales series is one of the few franchises that I still enjoy playing. They found their own niche market and continued to refine the anime style graphics and combat system. I've been playing since Tales of Symphonia on the GameCube and I am looking forward to the next one in the series, Tales of Arise.

Notice they've opted for "Aerith" over "Aeris" for the remake

I'd love it if there's an sliding doors option with her.

Probably because her name is Aerith.

Finished FF8, didn't actually enjoy it that much, just felt flat. I remember thinking that the game was massive with loads to do the first time around. This time it felt pretty empty.
