But fuck it, its Final Fantasy 7 so I will be all in whatever its like, I loved Crisis Core because it was a different look at Midgar. I even liked that god awful Dirge of Cerberus game at the time.
I hope they keep the overworld. My worry is that as they are releasing it in parts, that they ditch that and play it out a bit more cinematic like FF 10 (which is the one I like least).

Trailer looks great and I can't wait for E3 in a few weeks to see more.

New trailer and release date of 3rd March 2020.

It's noticeable that all the gameplay we have seen so far is in Midgar, I hope the first part isn't just there as it's about the first 8th of the game and all the interesting stuff happens after. That would mean that either the game will come in a daft amount of episodes, or that the rest will be rushed.

I think Volume One will just be Midgar unfortunately. Although I'm glad we've finally got a release date.

And another one. This has me excited now, seeing all the bits you recognise from the original game. Some of the things the characters are saying seem a bit at odds with the attitudes in the original though. And Tifa appears to have had a breast reduction.

Oh, and as Harvey said, the first episode is just Midgar.

Seems strange reboot a charming, cutesy turn-based game into a poker-faced button basher tbh.

This looks more like a HD version, like FF10, rather than a remake. Regardless I will get it and it should tide me over until FFVII comes out.

There's a real good game in 8, but it's a bit buried beneath some awful design choices.

Hopefully it's combat system gets tweaked. Drawing magic was dull beyond dull, as was the fact that casting spells essentially weakened you.

And hopefully those forever long screen fade outs & ins will be gone.

If you knew what you were doing with junctioning then you could become almost invincible.

Yup. Just draw forever then junction away. Dull.

Really hope they change that. Totally killed the game.

I never really got my head round junctioning. Didn't seem intuitive somehow. It didn't help that the menu system was unnecessarily fiddly either.

    Agreed! Couldn't stop playing it!

Story was cool, characters interesting enough, loads of goodness in there, just needed the crap bogging it down sorting.

Shame the Steam port off FFVIII is so poor. The music is terrible!

I really hope with the remaster they tweak the junction system. 8 is the one I never finished, from the Playstation era, and by the time I decided to get back into it - 9 dropped

So I am actually more excited to revist 8 then for the 7 Remake.

Just a shame the more modern games have generally been so poor.

As a franchise it looks to be something of a busted flush.

I just about could handle 10, 12 I disliked, 13 was an abomination, I ended up quite liking 15.

Never played the online 11 and 14 so have no idea about those.

    *SPOILER*

The thing that annoyed me was I built my players up, junctioned their abilities, then the final boss blows away your magic and you are left as your pathetic, underlevelled selves to finish her off.

11 is still going strong on private servers. I have a couple of friends who have gone back to it after playing it when it first came out. Not my cup of tea.

14 I played quite abit till about a year or so ago. Once you got to end game it was just daily dungeons and weekly raids. The high end dungeons had insanely complex mechanics on the hard modes that were just too much of a ball ache.

I loved 15. Really enjoyed the new approach and it's approach to an open world. I think it may have ended up being my fave game of this gen.
