If Newcastle put a decent sized offer on the table we'd accept it. Not because Benny isn't good, but because we'll reinvest the money like Britt.

    £6m+ and he's gone I reckon.
    I don't disagree.

Think this definitely says a lot about the futures of Cohen and the eagerness for us not to rely on Vaughan, and make the transition for coping without the latter much easier.

Plus, makes it a lot harder for the likes of Edser, Anel, Yates and Grant I would imagine, and confirms we look at Cash as more of a wing-back.

Where the Premier League clubs are concerned, money is almost irrelevant.

You make good points about Cohen and Vaughan, though I don't agree that it would necessarily affect the others you mention.

Ahmedhodzic's future is at centre-back in my opinion, whilst Grant and Yates are getting valuable game-time at Murder Lane. Toby Edser is currently a key member of our development squad and will, no doubt, get his chance to sample first-team football on loan before too long. We need him here at the moment however as we have a few from the U-16s ready to step-up.

If 6 million was offered for Benny Boy, I would drive him to sign the contract myself. He isn't worth a penny over £1 million if McKay was bought/sold for £500k. £6 million, LOL, yes please....whose smoking something on here?

You're comparing transfer fees in the Championship though with those in the Premier League.

I mean, Manchester City paid apparently £50m for Kyle Walker.

    Kyle Walker.

A valid point. But, Ben Osborn is not worth £6 million, however if we got that for him, would be a great deal for the club.

Walker isn't worth £50m, but clubs in the Premier League are so flush with cash, financial common sense goes out the window.

In an age when a player like Kyle Walker is worth £50m and a Championship club will pay £15m for Assombalonga, if indeed Osborn is "for sale" then £6m - at least - is not an unreasonable fee, in my book.

I would say that Assombalonga is easily 3 times more important and valuable (in a promotional sense) to a team than Osborn. £6 million a good fee, flog him. Personally I think he will go, I see no other reason for going for a player like McGinn if not. We will have too many midfielders.

Any Premier League club coming in for a young English, first team player should be charged premium. You'd have to be an idiot not too.

Also doesn't the fact that plenty of PL clubs have been interested in him indicate he may be a bit better than you give him credit for?

Ah , For what it is worth we went from bad to worse when Benny went off yesterday, He is underrated in my eyes and that has nothing to do with the fact he has come from the academy.
Again you have to question why despite many managers and coaching staff have deemed him good enough to keep in the team , No other player has retained his place like Benny. Ok he isn't top prem class but while we are in the second division he is good at this level. I am more than happy to have Benny in the team .

Just browsing the Hibs forums, the supporters seem to want about £3m for him. But they also banded around about £2m for JC, and we ended up getting him for £700k. 30% of the fee will go to St. Mirren as well.

One thing is for sure, they definitely rate him. He's in the full Scotland squad, ahead of McKay, Cummings, Bridcutt, etc.

My gut feeling is that something like £1.25m will probably get him, judging by similar responses to JC and the way FMcP has done his business so far.
