    Default Loanee Watch

Though it might be interesting to have a round up of how the players we've loaned out are getting on. So...

Gboly Ariyibi - (On loan to MK Dons until 30 Jun 18 )
Has started every League and Cup game so far this season for MK Dons and scored 1 goal - a 110th minute winner in the Dons EFL cup victory over Forest Green. Was subbed after 67 minutes in their most recent fixture, against Swansea.
A quick glance across MK Dons forums seems to indicate he's had a mixture of good and awful games, with opinions split on if he's actually any good or not.

Jorge Grant - (On Loan to Notts County until 30 Jun 18 )
Obviously the most headline-grabbing of our current crop of loaned out players, has pretty much carried on where he left-off last season for our nearest and dearest neighbours. Scoring goals and looking like a cut above everyone else in black and white stripes.
Opened the season with an unremarkable 26 minute substitute appearance when Notts were on the end of a 3-0 drubbing from Coventry. Then started their EFL Cup tie against Scunthorpe, scoring after 22 minutes, but being subbed off shortly into the first period of extra time.
Relegated to the bench for the following league fixture against Chesterfield, he came on in the 53rd Minutes and scored both of Notts goals in their 2-0 victory, the first a rare header and the second a free-kick deep into injury time. A less remarkable 90 minutes followed against Wycombe.

Alex Iacovitti (On Loan to Forest Green until 30 Jun 18 )
Just one substitute appearance to his name so far, coming on at half time in 'The Little Club...'s most recent league fixture, against Yeovil. Has sparked some heated debates on their forum, albeit only with regards to how to pronounce his name.

Tim Erlandsson (On Loan to AFC Ekilstuna until 5 Nov 17 )
So, pretty hard to get much in the way of details here. AFC Ekilstuna play in the Swedish Allsvenskan, which is their top division and seem to be currently in 16 and last place. He has played 13 times for them so far, but seems to have lost his place to the more experienced Iran international Alireza Haghighi.

Ryan Yates (On Loan to Notts County until 30 Jun 18 ).
Opened his season with a extra time goal and a full 120 minutes for Notts in their EFL Cup tie with Scunthorpe. He has been a first choice in their midfield since, playing for another full 90 minutes against both Chesterfield and Wycombe
Notts fans appreciate the physicality and drive he has added to their midfield.

Further to that, a good mate of mine is a Dons fan and seems to believe that Ariyibi falls over a lot but his pace is frightening. No end product as yet, but they're confident the manager will get the best out of him.

Grant really needed a League One loan instead of charity to Notts County.

Iacovitti got injured on the first day he signed for them in a friendly so only was available from last weekend & by the sounds of it he made a real difference as they were down by 2 goals before he came on and they won 4-3.

Wonder how Alex is getting on with the grub. Forest Green Rovers really are green - no red meat on the players menu since 2011 and no dairy since 2015. And it's the same on the terraces apparently! Quorn pie or falafel burger anyone?

Here is a question. Is there much difference between League 1 & League 2 ?

Lets be honest. There aren't major passing fooballing philosophies. The physicality is similar. There just isn't a major difference in quality imo. The gap is very small between the final 48 teams.

So I reckon just playing is vital for our young players. So if the opportunity arises like Notts then it is perfect.

Especially with the number of good players we are producing. They all can't get into the first team squad at the same time.

Imagine the workload involved maintaining this thread's equivalent if your were a Chelsea fan.

First time I've felt sorry for a Chelsea fan since we beat them 7-0.

There still seems to be a few yo-yo teams too good for div 4 not good enough for div 3 - Chesterfield, Shrewsbury, Bury..

Where the fourth tier is weak it always seems to be a bunch of hopeless teams down at the bottom surviving only because there is still always hope for them that there can be two somehow even worse ...just waiting for their year to be put out of their misery. Div 4 loanees would just as well off playing big games in the National League than those easy-beats. The top of National League seems stronger, but it takes a long time for teams to find their place in a system where second place doesn't get automatic promotion.

With four down from div 3, a bad season sees you relegated. The standard of opposition won't drop off so dramatically from top to bottom.

All players are warned before they sign up at FGR, so I imagine Alex is cool with it or at least has a crafty burger when he is able to at home.

Don't even need to be crafty about it by the looks of it:

But the strict vegan policy didn’t stop interim boss Scott Bartlett and striker Jon Parkin making a quick dash for high street bakery Greggs.

A pastry producer at the club’s local branch in Nailsworth, near Stroud in Gloucestershire, said: "We get quite a few of the players in here most weeks.”

Doesn't come as much of a shock, Jon Parkin is a centre forward very much in the mould of Neil Shipperley.

Though I very much doubt that Parkin had a National Ice Arena at his disposal so as to give him enough room to turn, which was the case when Shipperley was here.

Congo, this is the kind of reporting the NEP could (but won't) provide, and it's much appreciated. Factual, well researched and to the point. Keep 'em coming!

Ryan Yates starting in MF and Jorge Grant Wide-left. Currently beating Accrington 2-1

Grant has his 4th of the season.
