    Default The Hair Appreciation Thread

    Hair on our heads.

Probably the singlemost shapeable thing about our image, and the easiest thing to mold to express both ourselves & the times around us.

Even though some of us may not have it any more, I think appriciating it more would make the world a better place all round.

So here are my two fave cuts..........

    Curtains

Has there ever been a more well rounded cut? It says sweet, sexy & serious all from one simple central sweep of the comb. No icky gel to faff with, no messing around with it each morning, just part centraly and flick away to pull all the hot mano babes........

    Shaved Head

Sleek, sophisticated, practical. Even before the locks went naturally, I'd love a 6-month stint every few years with a shaven head. No faff each day, once a week whip-off, feels awesome when it's first whipped off too, and it adds +10 to your FIFA "stare out" rating.

What are yours? Have you ever sported anything else anywhere near as remotely as cool, sexy or useful as either of these?

What a stout fellow the last one in each set of jpgs is!
The shaved head look requires the adopter to either be hard as nails, or have the head shape and facial features of a Greek God.
As I am a piss weak devout coward, and in no way is my head shape or face remotely Greek-godlike I can never contemplate the shaven head.
And as I have retained a decent head of hair (a bit widows' peak receded now I have to admit), and as my hair is now silver fox, I have retained my Richard Gere neatly coiffured hint of a side parting with the length at the back jusyt onto my collar.
It sets off my boyish good looks to a tee, and is irresistible to the ladies who want to run their fingers through it.

    Shaved head, all the way.

It’s the „Jason Statham“ look, and the Fräuleins love it.

An ex girlfriend of mine used to work in a hairdressing academy & used to drag me in too model all kinds of hairstyles for her students. I had the fucking lot, perms, streaks, jetting. Had my hair pulled through one of them highlighting caps nightly, reckon thats what sent me bald.

Anyway, Im a number one a day man now & wouldnt want to go back. Like Chris says, add a couple of days growth on the face & you look bad as fuck.

My favourite was my last pre-shaven one of bleached blonde and spiky, a bit Billy Idol.
I love having a shaved head though and would have gone for it years ago but I always thought that it wouldn't suit me. I can't remember the last time that my face was clean shaven though.

I have a good head of hair although grey and getting progressively whiter.

My hair has a natural wave in it but has it went grey it has got curlier and become more work to keep it in check

I had a pompadour until about 2 weeks ago when I went for an American Crew.

The worst hairstyle for men was the v cut imo, I think Beckham was the one that made it popular. The mullet can look good but usually doesn't.
Shaved head suits most, I prefer more of a grade 1 or 2 Action Man cut. The latest peaky blinders/spitfire pilot cut is one of the better ones, just a variation on the short, back and sides.
Quiffs always look good, another iconic hairstyle.

I seem to go through several hairstyles each decade taking me back to shoulder length hair. This time will probably be the last time, a lot of grey now and takes some conditioning.
My hair is quite curly so takes some effort to style but with the help of industrial strength gel and a hat I can just about get it to stay in place

My barnet went about 40 years ago, shaved head ever since. I was once sitting in the old Radcliffe Road Stand upper tier on a bright sunny day at Trent Bridge, right behind the bowler's arm. The batsman was talking to the umpire about something, looked like a problem with the sightscreen and they were waving at the stand. Eventually the umpire wandered over to the stand and shouted up at me "can you move? The sun's shining off your head and
distracting the batsman." Not sure if I did move, I think I just melted into the stand.

This weather is really pissing me off as it’s playing havoc with my hair.

I leave the gym nicely coiffured only to arrive at work looking like I’ve been fucked in a bush.

Have to wear lower cut dresses so people don’t notice my hair.

I used to have long hair but now have it shorter. Always wanted to be a brunette too. Tried it once, I looked horrific.

I think 'odd' is a good thing. Oddness shows originality, uniqueness and a desire to be different from the masses. Oddness is, maybe, only deemed 'odd' by the majority who are considered less odd but only by their own blinkered observations and understanding. Oddness should never be criticised but be encouraged to nurture, develop individualism and to explore the mind rather than conform to expectation and 'normality'. Many of the world's greatest works of art and prose were born from those minds many considered to be 'odd'.

My hair was naturally curly, I had a white afro as a really young 'un. I remember my late 80's quiff took about a can of fucking hairspray every day and I was fucked when it rained, instant Michael Jackson wet look.

    Same here.

Late teens had a date with this girl, did my hair and wore my leather jacket, thought I looked the bollocks. It was raining and windy so looked a bit different when I got there, her mate said I looked someone from the film Grease with a DISCO hairstyle
