Brereton's definitely earned a start up front after Sunday. Nice to have to quality forwards fighting for a spot though.

Exactly. The possibility of having at least two players vying for selection to start for each position is a luxury we haven't had too often for a long time.

I doubt we'll ever be totally injury-free but creating a little competition is a healthy headache to give Karanka.

I think 'odd' is a good thing. Oddness shows originality, uniqueness and a desire to be different from the masses. Oddness is, maybe, only deemed 'odd' by the majority who are considered less odd but only by their own blinkered observations and understanding. Oddness should never be criticised but be encouraged to nurture, develop individualism and to explore the mind rather than conform to expectation and 'normality'. Many of the world's greatest works of art and prose were born from those minds many considered to be 'odd'.

Don't think he'll get as much change out of Elphick & Chester as he did Mertrsackr & Holding, but for me Brereton has a couple more strings to his bow than Murphy.

Fire in his belly for starters plus pace to run the channels.

    Definitely starts for me.

Murph is a brilliant option off the bench though if you need a forward to bring on to see out a game, or if you’re chasing a goal and need a target man.

As long as he's the target for crosses and not aimless hoofs, yeah.

Should help us squeeze a few more games out of him.

His form seemed to drop after his last international stint.

Or maybe he was scared by the prospect of having youngsters like Cahill for competition.

It's a fake Twitter account isn't it? The BBC have run with the story anyway. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42848222

Still cant believe we gave him a three year contract. Even this season you can argue he ran out of gas after the first ten games, and has been blocking BB's development. What will he offer in season 2020/21?

At least he'll be able to claim state pension to offset his wages.

It's frankly astounding. Taking a punt on a 34 year old on a one year contract I can understand. Giving him a guaranteed income until he's 37, less so.

Well up until the creative well ran dry, he was scoring pretty frequently. He's got 7 goals in 21 appearances so far. I'm sure he'll get at least a few more before the end of the season as well.
People get too hung up on what we're paying, like they're personally paying his wages or something.

He's still the best striker at the club for me.

indeed, give him the right service and he will score. No striker will be able to score a hatful when he has to pick the ball out 20 yards out wide with even no-one in the middle to pass to because they are up front on their own.

Shape is key, when playing with a lone striker, it is down to the attacking midfielders to work the channels and take advantage of the striker's knock downs.

Sometimes we could have Kane and Messi up there and not score, because the midfielders aren't generating clear cut chances.

The best thing Velios did yestersay, aside from score was to shout and gesture at Dowell and the CM's to get closer to him.

His name is Murphy. He is a striker.
He is only 34 and if you cross to him, he'll score.
Who could ask for more, Daryl Murphy!

Anyways, by the photos he's back training so hopefully he'll start against Hull.

    He needed this break.

Got to remember he was very much impact player from the bench at the barcodes.

Lots of minutes and Ireland pressure probably too much too carry at 34.

Good to see him back in training.

Don't mind someone being rested if they come back fighting fit and raring to go. We need him to be honest.

I bet he’s relishing the chance of playing in front of the new look midfield.

Also better for him to have all these veterans to talk to rather than a bunch of kids wanting to play the latest ps4 game together online

The internationals have taken a big toll on his season. Hopefully the breather will have him return well up for it.

He looked a bit lazy, which means he is still unfit.
