I like Luongo, be surprised if we can nick him off QPR. It's becoming obvious by the centre mids we've been linked with this past weekend/week what Warburton wants in the centre; Morsy, Scowen and Luongo all terriers, plenty of energy and love getting stuck in.

Good to see there is consistency in the manager's choices. The question is: one midfield or two?

Has to be two, our midfield is terrible and it would take more than one new midfielder to fix that.

He will likely want two, but he obviously wants one of them to be our "marquee signing" of the summer. And rightly so, too.

I would say 1. We have enough youth coming through to support Cohen/Vaughn/New guy

Even with youth players (who may benefit more from a spell out on loan than being on the bench here), we are paper thin in terms of depth and quality in midfield.

In fact I'd go as far as to say that we have one of the worst midfields in the league as things stand; immobile, slow, gives no protection to the back four, lacking creativity and match winners. We are incredibly weak in that area and I feel that it was one of the main reasons that we were so poor last season.

We need a decent midfield general type and a quality creative player at the very minimum, otherwise next season will be another season of struggle.

We do have available in midfield:

    David Vaughn
    Chris Cohen
    Zach Clough
    Ben Osborn
    Matty Cash
    Jorge Grant
    Thomas Lam
    Michael Mancienne
    Anel Ahmedhodzic
    Ryan Yates
    Toby Edser

I can't see us requiring two players in that position.

Your absolutely spot on, 9 games aint alot, but them games last season where Warburtons fairly simple pass & move philosophy looked fucking lost on the existing midfield, must see us reinforce that area with some quality & steel. Otherwise that away form will find us out again.

You need to have five midfields: at least three, and preferably four, who can be viewed as potential starters, regardless of their age, plus a youngster who will get his time only in case of injuries or card problems. Cohen/Vaughn/new guy is skeleton crew.

Would be very happy with this, though he'll cost a decent amount.

We had an even worse season, but Britt Assombalonga is still pretty good.

This guy is brilliant. We will do very well to get him.

Can't see him being cheap. Still only 24 too.

Luongo is a great player. I'm surprised no one from the prem has tried him yet.

Would 100% have Luongo off QPR.

He was on the Ballon D'Or long list last year ha

Luongo is just about QPR's best player I'd say.

Will cost a fair bit. Good footballer though.

ah , i can see a summer of frustration if warburton keeps going after known players from our rivals.

I think a lot of the players we are linked with so far is just press talk to be honest, or just basic enquiries as to a player's availability. I'm sure Warburton is aware that trying to sign other Championship clubs best players is highly unlikely unless you have a shit ton of cash behind you.

Two midfielders should sort it. Lets hope Luongo is one of them. Very tidy player.
