    Default Greatest Premier League match

    http://www.skysports.com/football/ne...edium=referral

Sky Sports have been posting polls on teams greatest match in the top flight, and now it's our turn.

Ditto 7-1 at Wednesday was a personal favourite.

We were fucking unplayable that day.

Was my first ever away game as a lad. I still remember my dad asking me for my prediction in the car on the way up to which little Bangerz replied emphatically "2-1 Forest". Little did either of us know what was to come...

Is it too late to suggest the 7-1 against Wednesday?

I went to the Wednesday game with my Dad. It was my 14th birthday that day. The old man was moaning because he had to pay full price (I think it was £16 then) for me. I think it was the best £32 he ever spent.

    This has pissed me off:

August 1992: Nottingham Forest 1-0 Liverpool - Teddy Sheringham's 29th-minute strike gives Forest a surprise win.

Back then us beating Liverpool wasn't exactly as surprise. Do they mean the media studies work experienced kid at Sky Sports thinks it must have been a surprise.

As it is now totally passe to mention Owls 1 Forest 7 (I was there), I would like to suggest Forest 4 Man Ure 1 in October 1966.
It wasn't the Premier League back then.
It was something far better - League Division 1.
Of that day 42000 spectators watched as we totally outplayed what was arguably the best team in Europe at that time.
    I was there!
Another great game, Forest 3 Everton 2... but that was the FA Cup, in the innocent, pure days when there was no sponsorship.
Those were the days my friend,
    We thought they'd never end!
    How naive we were.
How fucked up the world is these days.

Obviously pre Premier league days I remember just prior to the FA cup final in 91 we blew away teams for fun. Chelsea 7-0, Norwich 5-0.

Any win that season was a surprise win.

Except that one. It was before Sheringham was sold and the wheels fell off. After that promising win I doubt any of us thought it would be such a dire season.

My choice would be this https://youtu.be/4dFMczASiIE

Although from the list the 2-1 v Arsenal was the most memorable - Pearce in charge, Nigel back on loan, going a goal down but winning for the first time in what seemed like years.

What Ravi said. I remember going and thinking nothing of the win. I was only 11 to be fair and probably expected to win every game but I don't think a home win to Liverpool on the opening day of the season was a surprise back then. If I'd known Gary Bannister was going to be our main striking threat for the rest of the season even 11 year old me might not have been so confident!!

    It's Rosario!

1-7 vs Wednesday, I remember my dad asking me to guess the score before it came up on MOTD, halcyon days!

I did attend the 2-1 vs arsenal. Seem to recall that was a nervy game and we were lucky to get anything out of it, and did so because Nicola Jerkin feigned injury to get Ian Wright sent off. Hardly a best game!

I was standing in the Trent End. I remember not actually seeing the ball cross the line from Sheringham's shot because the guys in front of me were tall. I bounced with joy all the way home afterwards.

After that game we lost the next six. That was how quickly the world fell apart.

Forest at home to Liverpool (even after selling Walker) might even have been favourites, or at least similar odds to Liverpool. The surprise was the relegation.

I did go to that (and then re-watched on video tape I think) and it was a decent game, but not really worth top 5. The Leeds one can be though I think, as the high point of that season really.

Hard to look past the Sheffield Wednesday option though (although I went to and enjoyed the home game too as much as any possibly - not only in the PL era).

Several from 94/95 were better quality wise than the 2-0 over Arsenal in 96/97 I'd think but I can see why they slotted it in maybe, given the circumstances and the fact Arsenal were becoming a top team again by then.

Also 4-1 at Spurs in 94

I went to that Leeds one too.

The Forest fans were singing "We're going to Europe, we're going to Europe, you're not, you're not"!

Definitely a rampant display from early in the game from what I remember. A lot of the Forest home games were really good throughout that season, though it's not a surprise to see the two famous away ones picked out.

Yeah, can't believe I didn't mention the win at Tottenham!

Probably it should be 3 famous away games from 94/95 making the list now I think about it!

Sky probably thought the score was a misprint so left it off. Surely shitty little Nottingham forest couldn't beat the mighty spurs 4-1 at the lane.
