    Default Iacovitti

Does anyone know the whereabouts of young Iacovitti? He featured in a few matches early last season and then, I think, went out on loan. He is a Left Back with experience in Scotland Youth teams. He is possibly potentially as good as Joe Worrall and might help plug the post-Pinillios gap?

Probably on holiday at this time of year?

Isn't he playing for Scotland under 20's?

Went to Mansfield on loan at the beginning of last season but returned to Forest in January.

Made 8 appearances for the Stags making 4 starts while coming of the bench in another 4 games.

Returned to Forest due to lack of game time according to Steve Evans the Mansfield manager.

Obviously still in people's sights as he has been picked to represent Scotland under 20's in this summers Toulon tournament.

Is he capable of filling the LB hole long term? I think there is every chance now Pinillos has been released. Traore would be the best fit to Warburton' style of play but has a history of injury while Fox has looked far more comfortable playing CB rather than LB where he had been playing.

There is an opportunity for Iacovitti to make the position his own if he wants it, ultimately the ball is in his court. Work hard and progress and he might just fill one of the positions we have struggled to fill for years.

Decent centre back - but don't see him as a MW player.
More of a Mills than a Mancienne.
And defo not a left back.

    Warburton likes mobile full backs.

    Pinillos gone.
Fox seems to struggle most when he strays from the conventional left back defensive position.
Traore & Cohen havent the legs for the role over a season.
Iacovitti doesnt look the most mobile.
Benny Osborn isnt a wing back.

Plus theres no pace anywhere in the above, so if MW is looking for pace & mobility from LB then there must be another one coming in.

I haven't seen enough of Iacovitti to say whether he fits a MW system or not. What do our resident academy buffs say? Lard?

Despite many seeing him as a left back because that's where he started the season, he's a central defender.

Apparently there is a decent Spanish left back available of a free transfer.
He has had a couple of bad knee injuries, but all in all he looks a promising player, and at 25 he is nearing his prime.
    Worth a gamble?
Decent defender, plus decent header of the ball

Bar a few exceptions, I wouldnt second guess MW on any of our squad to be honest. Was Pinillos that good or were we just happy to see a competent left back in the team?

He wants a small & mobile squad, so clearly doesnt see Pinillos as a sustainable option given his fitness history.

He's started well with Clough, Ward, Osborn and Vaughn.

Agree he's not a LB. Disagree that he isn't a MW player. People said Worrall was a Matt Mills type but he's proved more than comfortable on the ball. Iacovitti is very highly rated and I reckon he will feature next season.

Don't think he's a long term option at LB.

Left footed CB's are very rare, if he can be developed he could be very useful, especially if MW continues to use the 3-4-3 as an option going forward.

I thought he really stood out early on last season. Certainly didn't look out of place.

Would rather he was on the bench than Mills or Perquis if he isn't going to start. Keep.

Agreed. Makes the signings of Perquis and Lam last summer look absolutely mental with the number of CB we have..

He'll meet up with Joe Worral then. Not for the same team, of course.

Lam was perhaps the most obvious example of the summer recruitment drive. There's a good player in there somewhere, but one that was completely and utterly unable to cope with the physical demands on the Championship.

Looked good on the ball, but the big lads would just run over him.

    Needs a few gym sessions.

He manages to play international football. I think he'll come good under MW, maybe more at the base of midfield than CB though.

I walk around like everything is fine but deep down, in my shoe, my sock is sliding off.

I think he's got more potential than Worrall.

Don't see why we can't just play them side by side.
