Seemed inevitable from the moment they gifted Spurs a way back in right on half time.

Difficult night. It took me a while to get back on track this morning.
We gave away a goal that put them back in the game. The second one was a bad referee decision. Our left back was fouled before the goal. After that they had psychological push and their quality plus home did the rest of the work.

Anyway, we are not there. We lack quality and more importantly the budget to do that. We know the way but when they bring in the pitch 30-50m euros per sub and we bring 2-3m, there is a huge distance to overcome.

Europa-league is our target from beginning. However we are left with the bad taste thst we could do more last night in London.

We will keep working and fighting.

Olymps must be a pretty poor team not to get at least a draw, Spurs are bang average at best.

Spurs aren't the biggest spenders by EPL standards, but they are big spenders compared to Oly. Not to mention finalists last year.

It's easy to see why EM wanted to buy a (potential) EPL club. It's too big a gap for Oly to jump.

They're worth ten times what we're worth.

Haven't Olymps gotta vastly wealthy owner?

Sorry, I just think they're the Watford of the European Cup.

In the day of ffp, that's irrelevant. Our entire league is worth a third of what Tottenham are worth. You can't be a team in a poor league and compete with the ultra rich clubs of Europe. You have to consistently outperform yourself just to have a small fighting chance.

Which European Cup? Real progress in the Champions League is most certainly beyond our reach. But it's beyond the reach of all clubs save, say, about twenty in Europe overall. There may, occasionally, appear a Cinderella, but other than that it has become a closed competition for the ultra rich clubs only.

The Europa League is a different story.

In any case, hopefully you will soon have a chance to compete against the ultra rich of Europe yourselves. We'll see how that goes.

Ray posts from a pub somewhere in 1982 so doesn't understand the wider elements of football in the present day.

FFP has been a real competition killer, both in European competition and in the leagues. Do you think this is why EM wanted an English club GBG?

Olympiakos still has a very decent team. Hopefully a good result last game so you can sneak the 3rd for Europa.

    Jose Sa
    Ellabdellaoui Semedo Meriah Tsimikas
    Camara Guilherme Bouchalakis
    Podence El-Arabi Masouras

    Subs : Valbuena, Randjelovic, Guerrero

    (without Cisse/Fortounis)

We know there has been interest from other European clubs in almost all those players. Sa, Meriah, Semedo, Camara, Boucha, Podence, Cisse, Fortounis etc

Sa , Semedo & Podence are now regulars in the Portuguese squad since moving to you guys.

No. He just wanted a club in UK to invest. He is a football-aholic and enjoys that. There was an opportunity to get a club with history and great football roots. There was no reason to pass that.

However, the two clubs and their finances are completely different stories.

We have rebuild the team last season and we are evolving. Our league is not champions league yet. It's Europa league. The big pockets play the drums in champions league. We had some good games and we have weighted ourselves in order to make more improvements for next season

We are a good team with good players. But we need more for cl. I don't know whether we'll make it but we will keep trying.

Saved at the 87th minute by a penalty, in a match we completely dominated and had 27 attempts on goal, 66% possession, and more than twice the amount of passes than our opponent, with 84% accuracy.

    Europa League, here we come.

Unfortunately, the downfall of Greek football continues (all other Greek teams were eliminated early in European competitions), and we are in danger of subsiding to the 18th place in the UEFA associations coefficient table, which will mean that we will have only one team in the first preliminary round of the CL, no team in the Europa League, and three teams in the new Europa Conference League.

At least you got a penalty in the 87th minute. All we seem to do is concede in the last ten minutes. (And bloody Derby got one, too)

PAOK currently 3-1 down away to Aris with 25 to go.

    Could be a big result.

Back on top with a late goal in a 1-0 win against Panathinaikos.

    No mate, that’s Germany.

Now that they have Benzia, I wonder if they could finish the season off without El-Arabi? From what I've seen of El-Arabi he looks like he'd be a good backup for Grabban should Forest not manage to find anything else before the transfer windows shuts. I imagine both clubs would benefit should Forest get promoted.

However, what am I hearing about Podence possibly leaving to go to Wolves? I realize there would be a huge profit made after how cheap he was stolen from Sporting, but the lad is classy and I'm not sure he could be replaced very easily.

Our main target is the championship. It's important. The two clubs are cooperating and helping each other but don't hurt each other and don't mix their goals and interests. It's not a zero sum game.

El arabi is not going anywhere, he is a crucial member of the squad and scored in CL games too.

For podence we had an offer of 25m. Nobody can deny this. You have to sell properly if you want to find new players of that type in the future. Young players and their managers need to know you will improve them, raise their value and not deny them their transfer to a higher prestige league and team
