The part I really liked was the quote: "It’s not theatre for us, it is actual training, training in the academy". Only too often, working out for kids with disabilities is treated as something 'soft'. But what these kids really need is feeling the stress of real training as a team with specific goals.

My son quit football and now trains as a runner. In the stadium where he trains there is also a club for disabled children. There was one particular little blind girl whose personal trainer shocked me initially. He pushed the little girl beyond what I thought were the reasonable limits of her condition. Again and again, he made her jump, run, run faster, follow his lead, with the lack of mercy of a Nazi officer. But soon I realized that this was precisely what the girl wanted. The joy on her face when the trainer told her that she had surpassed her previous time was revealing.

Pity it's not standard practice for all clubs.

A good attacking left back, and the second Iranian in our team (both bought from another Greek team).

The interesting detail about the new guy is that he does not speak a word of English or any other language other than his native Farsi.

Probably just happy to stay out of Iran at present.

Funnily enough, one of the projects I’m working on at the moment is a joint-venture via our subsidiary in Tehran.

Things there are getting a bit tasty.

6 months in Europe, learn English, have a decent World Cup, and sell him to Forest.

    I like it.

Could you afford him, with all that money you spend on terminating managers' contracts?

The Spanish like to look hard but when you catch them hanging out the back of your shag/date/GF on holiday they all run a mile.

It's the twinkle in your eye and the bulge in your trousers that makes them run Andrew.
