Default NFFC 2016/2017 - Recollection of important moments

Been wasting a lot of time at work today on Forest related things, so here's a look back at the season just gone, with a focus on moments which had a greater importance than most this year. What's your favourite? Which one was the most important? Despite a frankly dreadful season I can't help looking back at these moments with a bit of a smile, hope you enjoy them too.

GOAL A: Forest vs Wigan in August, our fourth game of the season. Lam scores in the 93rd minute to make it 4-3 to Forest and give us a vital three points.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlDIOJ0h9oU&t=1m49s

GOAL B: Villa vs Forest in September. Lansbury follows up on a jinking Pereira run to fire into the top corner and make it 2-2 with three minutes to go. Pereira is sent off for celebrating a little too much.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWkQCq51ohk&t=1m30s

GOAL C: Ipswich vs Forest in November. By this point it looks like Forest will be in a relegation scrap and haven't won away all season. Britt opens the scoring after about 15 seconds.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GM4ekuJsetg

GOAL D: Forest vs Newcastle in December. Things looking a bit better for Forest after two consecutive away victories, but Newcastle are much stronger. Some 'gamesmanship' for Lansbury allows us a chance to get back into the game, and Lascelles delivers for us in the last minute with an own goal.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=le1JSh1OUDQ&t=1m48s

GOAL E: Forest vs Bristol City in January. The gloss of three victories took a sharp turn for the worst with four losses in a row, a cup exit and Montannier removed from post. Just for good measure the American takeover falls through too. On the pitch, Forest need to beat Bristol City to get their season back on track, and Benny Osborn delivers with a wonder free kick to win the game 1-0.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdUZ9DnIUUk&t=1m26s

GOAL F: Forest vs Villa in February. The Sky cameras are at the City Ground to see two former European Cup winners go toe-to-toe, but are left fawning over the arrival of a 17 year old who steals the show with a last minute winner.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKFMIQ1pKQE&t=1m44s

GOAL G: Forest vs Derby in March. A tale of new managers. Forest start brightly and go into the break deservedly winning, but a poor second half sees Forest facing a loss to their local rivals. Injury time is all but up..
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iV8EQW0KRNo&t=1m46s

SAVE H: Forest vs Ipswich in May. The final game of the season. A win should do it for Forest, even with Blackburn winning at Griffin Park. It's 0-0 after 35 minutes, Forest haven't being playing well, and Smith comes up with save of the season.

Ben Brereton vs Villa, incredible moment. Osborn's free kick was audacious brilliance and Cohen's goal yesterday made me drunkenly cry. The Smith save literally saved our season, unreal. Berto running round defenders for fun is also worthy of a good smile.

Can only be the last minute goal against Derby. The feeling if we had lost would have been unbelievable, but the feeling when we scored was like we had won six nil.. If he does leave Nico stays a hero for that goal.

Think Smith's save was my favourite moment. It might be because it's fresh in the memory, but the only time I truly believed we were going to be relegated this season was from about quarter past twelve right up until Smith made that save. After that it was like a shock to the system to think 'OK, we're still in this' - and five mins later...

It was Danni P's late, late equaliser that effectively kept us up.

Yes I remember after the match MW saying that this point could be so important at the end of the season. Thanks D*rby ;-)

Happily sailing down the trent with Forza and my boy, before beating leeds

Fuming on a train while arguing with fawaz rimmers on facebook after we'd sold Burke a week later

Drinking in the sunshine with Forza before villa away

Fuming with all the plastic premiership fans coming for the Arsenal at home

Cheering hilderberto's goal against Brum at home

Fuming about being in Barnsely on wet Friday night. Singing our hearts out, as the fans won it 5-2

    Derby away despair.

Wigan away in the cup disgust

    Leeds away disappointment. JJM disbelief

    Derby home, late relief

Reading home reunion with my old school boys, and a team playing as they should

    Ipswich nerves....and hope.

Never dull, but not good. Roll on next year....

And as well, put a massive, garibaldi red torpedo into the sheep's playoff hopes.

Said to the people round me on 37 mins Sunday that Smith's save might just be the pivotal moment of the game.
How often this season have we narrowly missed scoring, only to concede a few moments later.

    Anyway. I was wrong,

It was season defining, not game changing.

By "relegation battle", do you mean 7th, 12th or 14th?

    Smiths save was crucial.

There was time build on the others moments, but the implications of conceding at that point of the season don't bare thinking about.

God that save is just beautiful. Shot going bottom left and he somehow stops himself upright and keeps a strong enough arm/hand to tip it onto the bar. Incredible.

That said, Osborn's moment of brilliance in a terrible game of football was a huge 3 points and sums the lad's efforts this season up.

Some good stuff on this thread and shows what a thin dividing line there is.

Nice that the commentator yesterday said that Brereton had given him his favourite commentary moment of the season in the Villa game.

The fine margins observation is so very true. For a team to have survived dropping into the third tier by just goal difference we have played some outstanding football, scored some wonderful goals and created some amazing memories this season. Even just a small upturn in fortune next season could see us starting on a path to success in the coming years.

Smith deserves to be the first choice goalie now on that save alone

From the Trent end it looked better as he had to not just stop but move to his left, something the camera angle neglects. It was outstanding.

Credit to the Ipswich keeper, his penalty save was fucking superb as well.

Don't ever recollect seeing two saves of that quality in one game.
