    Default Jordan Smith gigathread!

Cracking performance today. Great to see another academy player coming through and making good.

So generally what do we think of the goalkeeping setup? In a state of limbo at the moment really. Henderson out but if Smith keeps playing well then do we keep him as first choice? And what about Vlad?

    Honestly fuck vlad

Hendo back up imo as I can see smith keeping his place now

Out of the two he's only gonna get better

Obviously evitimov is not fancied so I think that's that

    Vlad to go imo

I've been very impressed with this young man.

His positioning and decision making is good, and he's not afraid to come and claim the ball.

    Just looks confident doesn't he?

Might be difficult come next season though as Hendo looked like he was really coming good as well

Nice problem to have I guess

He already looks a more assured figure in goal than anyone else we've had this season. Which again makes a mockery of the signing of Vlad and Henderson.. Hopefully Smith being backed up by Tim Erlandson next season..

Got great handling for a keeper.

He should keep his place until he proves to us he's not good enough.

Said the same to my mate. He doesn't seem to drop anything, took a bullet of a cross in front of the Trent End & made a good save down to his left.

    Looks a solid keeper.

No reason he can't have the shirt for years to come, done his time on loan and taken his chance. No need to get another keeper in the summer but I bet we'll be tempted.

    Keep him in.

Solid game, as did the entire back four today.

But..but..a back four containing Danny Fox and Armand Traore?

    What witchcraft is this?

Beats me Chris. I'm happy to admit I said I was worried before the game of that combo on the left hand side but fair play to both of them, they both had very solid games.

(I also said Cohen/Cash CM combo would work and a few days ago not to write us off today, so I'll claim those)

Cohen can't do the box-to-box role he used to make look so easy but Matty Cash can, as he's got the energy.

Cohen-Cash has everything you need to be the "anchor" in the 4-2-3-1 formation. I though both were very good today.

The guy looks solid. Nothing too flashy but confident and assured. Exactly what you want in a keeper. Clearly the best of our three keepers this season and I'm hoping he'll be our keeper for years. Also love the way he speaks about the club and how he's been here since he was 8 or something.

It's Jordan's shirt to lose in my opinion. Having watched him come through the various academy levels he's always demonstrated that assuredness. In fact, I'd argue that he's been unlucky not to get his opportunity before now.

Not done much wrong since he came into the side. Keepers are much of a muchness at this level - plenty of decent ones around with the odd mistake in them (as with any keeper error, it can easily lead to a goal as we witnessed today). Jordan is growing in confidence with the team and he clearly has ability to play at this level so why we ever signed Stojkovic when we had Henderson, Smith and Evtimov, I don't know... we just like wasting money?

He made a couple of cracking saves today too.

Pushing that on round the post from Solly March was quality.

As noted above, he's got the shirt and for me, he should keep it.

Makes me wonder why we spend money on transfers and loans when the answer is playing in front 30 people week in week out down Wilford lane. Smith , Worrall, Cash, Osborn, Brereton, and many more to come we just need to use them.

If you add Burke, bamford, lascelles and darlow to that list and a few others on the fringes now the academy has born some serious fruit in recent years.

There's at the very least £100,000 a week in wages that doesn't need and never has needed to be at this club. £5 mill a year at the very least, pretty much the same as our seasson ticket income! Incredible when you think of it..

It's hardly a revelation - it's been said for years by multiple people.

Don't forgot you've not listed Lascelles, Darlow, Bamford, Burke, Iacovitti and the soon will be's in the likes of Anel, Gabriel, Yates.

There is really no harm in at least having our backup players being youngsters from the academy, but like I said, it's a conversation that occurs monthly and has done for about half a decade.

Beyond that next seasons 17s and 16s, have 7 players who have been involved with England at some point. Plus others like Harbottle who played in our youth cup team as an under 16.
