    Default Next seven games

6 points above the relegation zone with no win in 4 are we capable of getting the necessary points to be free of the drop going into our final 5 games.I don't think so.

    Brighton H Lose
    Brentford H Win
    Burton A Draw
    Derby H Draw
    Preston A Lose
    Wolves A Draw
    Huddersfield H Lose

6 points from the seven games and still hovering or in the do do.

If GB plans to continue ignoring our best players then I'll go with this.

That looks optimistic but we should be capable of that. Minimum.

    We'll be OK.

    Just.

But mostly because Rotherham are already dead and just waiting to be buried and there are two other teams already below us who are just as bad.

We need to get through this season and put Gary Brazil back where he's brilliant at developing talent and get a manager in who can win some games.

    Think you're right mate.

I think personally Rotherham have gone and Wigan have had it too; I honestly think Blackburn might get pulled into it too.

I'd hope so, as that would mean Burton survived, confining "the Number Nine" as a Miracle worker.

Blackburn have a chance because of an experienced man like Mowbray coming in and 2 games in hand.
Although... a bit like us although further down the line, years of chaos are coming home to roost.

I hope so, but I've had this nagging feeling for at least a month now that we'll be relegated on the last day of the season

We'll probably get a draw with the shaggers as well.

If we turn up we might get something against Wolves, Brentford and Preston. But I'm not confident. Relying on others to be more shit than we are, unfortunately.

Wolves arent great and Preston, Ipswich, Brentford won't be playing for anything by the time we play them.

Peterborough did go down on 54 points a few years ago, and before that Leceister went down on 53, but usually 45 points is enough. This season looks like being a lower total so 3 wins should see us safe.

I wonder how many of those 7 games will feature exactly the same starting 11.

Wolves have a good manager in Lambert with proven class and Blackburn getting Mowbray, new manager bounce and we are up against it.

Tonight's fixtures (Tuesday) will at least show who most wants to win their games in hand.

    Aston Villa v Bristol City
    Blackburn v Derby
    Brighton v Newcastle
Wolves v Huddersfield Match postponed - Fixture Clash

45 points is too few. 50 should just about do it.

The year Peterborough went down with 54 was a very tight league - 79 was enough to finish second and there's a high likelihood based on current PPG that 79 points will only get you 6th this year. Points are more concentrated at the top is what I'm trying to get across - infact there's currently four teams at the bottom averaging 1PPG or less at the moment. It won't stay that way, but a big difference on the 54 points from 46 and still going down as the 3rd worst team.

Actually just looking through recent previous seasons, apart from the Peterborough year, average points for 3rd bottom is around 43. That really surprises me.

Still, I wouldn't be comfortable sitting on 46 points and saying that'd be enough - it's too tight to call and there's still the opportunity for Wigan or Blackburn to turn it around. Four wins for me please.

One thing I have learned from being a 12 man friendly weekly results forecasting competition is that to forecast correctly one week's results (17 matches selected by the previous week's most successful player) is that it is virtually impossible to get more than 40% of the games forecast correctly (and that means just the result, not the actual scores).
We have a column called "Zero" where the person selecting the games for the week tries to forecast 100% incorrect - and that has never happened in the 3 years we have been doing this.
We also have a column called "Rando" where we use a set of random number tables to predict the results.
    Rando is a regular winner!
So, to forecast the next 7 games for Forest is virtually impossible.
I agree with the pessimists who think we will be lucky to get more than the odd draw.
But as I said, my experience with 11 other people is that games are by and large unpredictable.
That's one of the beauties remaining in the desert that is modern soccerball.

Brentford H Would have won with Billy
Burton A Would have drew with Billy
Derby H Would have won with Billy
Preston A Would have drew with Billy
Wolves A Would have lost with Billy
