Looked back to his best for me. When he first broke through players were bouncing off him but more recently he's looked like the eighteen year old kid he actually is. Tonight was like his debut again, all the effort, strength and desire, but added game smarts he's picked up in the last year.

He's a better striker than Britt is when he's on his game.

The kids got what it takes no doubt. There is a little bit of me that sees Norman whiteside though. Thank god its not the 80’s. Just keep him away from the pies and the lagers is all!

Back to business against Villa - a thumping defeat, calls for Brazil to go and the demise of Ben Brereton.

Who has recently been dropped by Tony Pulis because he's contributing nothing to games apart from the odd brace against a relegation threatened side.

As I said before, he reminds me of a young shearer. Good in the air and ground, not so easy to barge him off the ball, it's that inborn strikers instinct that will mature over time.

That might be a controversial opinion, but I agree with it.

He’s got so much more to his game than the Congolese forward.

Default The Eighteen-year-old Centre Forward we won’t talk about.

This guy has got immense talent and it is just the boost his career needed.
I was only thinking the other day that it was only a few months ago that we were talking about him being about the best kid in that age group in the country, just ahead of Sessignon at Fulham. And look how much the Fulham kid had flourished and Brereton had stalled.
Now I know a load of people will point a finger at MW for this and imo he has been responsible for playing him out of position. Even though Gary Brazil says that he is only playing through the middle because of injury to Murphy. But Brereton is a centre forward and he knows it.
The club now needs to look after this kid and they will get a complete centre forward. Someone who is comfortable receiving the ball facing his own goal or the oppositions. Someone who is strong and quick. Also a great judge of when to run off the oppositions shoulder and when to come short for the ball. And for me will improve on his only patchy area and that is finishing.
When I say look after him I don’t mean sell him to the highest bidder either. We are the best place for him to be at this point of his career.

    I agree Chris.
But would say at this moment in his very young career and still taking into account our former forwards mare game here earlier in the season for me Britt is a better finisher, and has better awareness in and around the 6 yard box.

I was so impressed by his movement, the CBs never quite knew where he was, bent his runs cleverly and controlled the ball so well.

unfortunately , the better he performs , the more vultures will circle , it's the transfer window after all. luckily,he's happy and settled and on a long contract.

Exactly I'm sure the only reason he played on the wing was for defending our area from corners to add height.because certainly hes not and never will be a winger...

I see a bit of Harry Kane in him, to be honest. He is blue chip, without a doubt. But a bit too young to be going to war with Champo thug centre backs week in week out.

So Manure let him go, and Stoke too. Some of these so called football experts aren't as clever as they would have us believe.
    Thank god.

Obviously every elite club bar Chelsea and City have been linked with him but it did seem like Burke that Liverpool then Utd,Spurs,Arsenal have shown the most interest like the above shows.

This is what Liverpool coach tweeted about BB after his pen

Seems as if they have the Nottm Post method of reporting on transfers.

Put some names in the hat and see who comes out.

Really misleading headline as the article is speculation at absolute best and a complete lie at worst

I thought Scouse press were the paragons of truth?

Liverpool can still fuck off though.

and they can forget about Brereton

I've said it before, but he really reminds me of Alan Shearer when he was at Southampton.

Shearer also had that turn of pace and then I look at the way Ben takes up intelligent positions around the last defender, turns cleverly, uses his body frame. He's a very exciting prospect.

Shearer never started scoring on a regular basis until he was around 21 and Brereton has been playing on the wing too so I wouldn't worry about the scoring record right now either.
