Thread: The Curse of Billy Davies

Default The Curse of Billy Davies

So over the weekend I spent a good chunk of it dog-sitting both mine & some mates pooches with the fireworks so manic, and indulged in some film & computer game catch up.

I came across an old game for the PC which my mate had from years back. The 3rd installment of a trilogy - The Curse of Monkey Island. Cracking game, so are it's previous 2 outings, give 'em a blast.

Anyway, since sacking Davies on both occasions, I think it's fair to say that - as a footballing force, we've spiralled downwards both times. So it got me thinking, with the Macbeth & Scottish connections, has he cursed us?

Are all these current ills still Davies' fault? Yeah Fawaz has been a bad man, but he wasn't here when we first sacked him and spralled down then, so maybe all these problems are actually still down to Davies and his curse?

And if that's the case, what can we do?

Either way, with everything so shit and people obviously not wanting to slag Monty off to much, I thought a thread to demonize the real villain of the peice would help (it has been a while).

So let loose, let the bastard have it!!!

Look at what happened to Preston and Derby after he left too.

Ah Monkey Island - what a game that was.

If this thread turns into the "Billy's Head Photoshopped on to Various Amiga Games" thread than that's fine by me

What I find intriguing is the fact that he hasn't worked since!! Even after Davies MK1 he didn't take a job until Forest came calling again. Very strange.

Not intriguing, but outright evidence that others are aware of "the curse" too.

    F*ck the poisonous Scottish dwarf.
    Fuck championship survival
    Fuck the playoffs
Fuck long unbeaten runs and record winning runs at the CG.
Fuck the good football and the 'run through a brick wall' attitude of the players.

We no longer need to deal with media fall outs, press conferences before games, spats with local photographers, interviews which include the phrase of 'it is what it is'.

I look back at the days when he was here and cringe. He destroyed our club from top to bottom, on and off the pitch. What a c**nt.

Who is/was worse, Billy as manager or Fawaz as owner?

I'd go as far as to say football itself has died since he left the game completely.

I have no idea whether this is a serious question or not but I'll give it a serious answer in any case. The latter, by a fucking country mile.

More importantly, I've only just discovered there are 5 Monkey Island games. How have they passed me by over the years? I've only played the first two.

At least we can watch the game die a slow lingering death knowing that in its last eight Forest hired Billy twice when nobody else had the good sense to hire him at all. That is the only reason Forest have spent these final years being twice as good at football as the rest of world combined.

SOD, Mcleish, Pearce, Freedman and Monty were all victim's of Fawaz's mismanagement. When they fell out with him or stood up to him it was right, because he's useless. However when Billy did it it was wrong, because Billy is evil.

A "Bully" no doubt at all..........

I played the 4th game some years back, Escape from Monkey Island. Not bad, definitely has it's moments, but not quite in the class of the 1st 3 games.

Not played the 5th, will have to check it out. Hope Murray returns. He reminds me of Billy.

I can recall playing Secret of Monkey Island and Champ Man 97 an awful lot on my massive brick laptop that sounded like an airplane taking off 24/7 and probably had the processing power of your average smart kettle today. Good times.

I thought his plus-one was Tommy Sheridan?
