There are pockets of investment, but the main problem is that many of the available workforce have moved west, looking for prosperity and work.

There's still an imbalance between the two former states; it's getting better, but there's a lot to be done.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

On the day that net migration was at it's highest level ever here in the UK, it's worth noting that what we see now, is but a drop in the ocean to what could be around the corner.

And American climate-change deniers know that Europe is the first place that Africans and Middle-Easterns will head to. They can sit at the other side of an ocean and build a wall on the Mexican border and let the rest of the world deal with the problem.

One large German company of my acquaintance, whose "Diesel Systems" division (the largest group in the organisation, with over 80,000 employees), is already looking to this future, which will probably entail them merging the "Diesel Systems" division in with the "Gasoline Systems" division (slightly smaller).

For years, they've manufactured and promoted Diesel technology, but it seems the prevailing wind is blowing against diesel in the long-term, what with the pollution concerns and also the "VW" scandal, are leading to a push-back against Diesel.

There's a load of rubbish down the other end of the A52 we could send to the Swedes, if they want?

    Very interesting Barbus.

Here in Derby they have built an incinerator in Sinfin that will burn 200,000 tonnes of waste a year creating a gas that can be burned to create electricity which sounds quite plausible, however, nothing is directed to a local heating system so all the heat produced is lost o the atmosphere from the actual burning.

In Nottingham, the incinerator off London Road is used to provide heating for for properties in St. Anns yet is only 20% efficient with the rest of the energy lost in the burning phase.

London, best place to live in the UK?

    Hmmmm.

5 days in to the New Year and already the annual pollution levels have been broken in certain places in the "worlds best city".

So, 5 days to break an entire years worth of pollution.

    Mind boggling.
