So the Greek journo on twitter has said we've been in negotiations for three weeks and there's a very good chance we will sign him.... Thats enough to take this rumour seriously.

I presume this is the striker Fawaz said would "turn us into a top six side" a few weeks ago?

I wonder if this will mean Britt on the wing like in pre-season? Personally I'd prefer 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 (depending on how good Dumitru/Lica are) and get Bendtner and Britt up top together - could be a cracking partnership.

I don't care about all the nonsense that comes with him, Bendtner is a good player and even if he's on 40k a week (I hope hes not btw) on a 3 yr deal with a hefty signing on fee, that outlay doesnt even put a dent in what Villa paid for Kodjia or McCormack, or what Newcastle paid for Gayle, or Derby for Vydra.

Seems at odds with our recent transfer business though, that's for sure

Assuming it's a goer Dan, I genuinely can't see this being solely down to Fawaz and the head-coach and D-o-F having no say in his recruitment.

As we reported at time, #nffc had interest in Nicklas Bendtner before transfer window closed. That interest hasn't died yet.

Does any one honestly think that there would have been three weeks of negotiations if Fawaz had been involved?

This will be PM convincing him we are the right club to get his career back on track and PP convincing him that there is more to life than money.

If PM can get NB playing to anything like his potential we start to look like a serious side.

Assuming the deal falls in line with the others that have happened so far, I could get quite excited if we pull this one off.

Interesting one. No doubting his quality but it's a bit of a gamble. Short term deal? We probably need someone in the short term until Britt is fully recovered anyway.

This would be a good signing. Really hope we can get him in.

Looking at his scoring record, PM just needs to tell him he's turning out for Denmark and all will be fine.

Bendtner is currently at the CG. Awaiting news of what deal - if any - has been agreed. But feels close. Yards away, in fact ;-) #nffc

Reassuringly, this isn't a guy who will over-exert himself and end up injured

I watched that video the other day when the link first came about on Twitter... He's an odd player, seems to have everything but in a sort of slow motion, even his shots seem to go in slo-mo.

He's very neat and tidy technically, and he's also a force in the air from outwide. He wont bomb about like Jamie Mackie did, but sadly some people would rather see that anyway.

He's got a slightly bad rep because of his confidence, which any good player has, and then some media company bought some land in his name so he became a lord for a joke, and he has a sense of humour and went along with it. People took it all too seriously and got uptight about it.

If he's genuinely interested in getting his career going again, this could be a fantastic signing. He's 28 and he's a damn good footballer.

    This is incredible.

Also fits exactly with our recruitment strategy. Get Montanier at him, get him back up to full strength and we can sell him off for 20 million next season after he's smashed 20+ goals in
