Indeed. With MON it'll be moer Backstock-Earnshaw-esq with regards game-time IMO. Some games a lone forward, others a pairing. Looking forward to it tbh.

    Soudani as well.

    Not really a striker though.

That way you've got two players for each approach. Walkers a close call, but he needs to prove he needs to step up & produce at league one level.
Only issue with the players selected is we don't have a player to "Mix it up" so unless that fast big bloke is good at holding it up and heading it then we may be very 1 dimensional.

Kodja would be ideal mate, think he's the all rounder we need.

Always liked Kodja. Whether we could get him or not is a different matter. If he is someone we wanted our chances would probably increase if Villa do go up though.

What ever CFs we have here they must be mobile enough to get beyond a defence and stretch them. Guys like Murphy and Vellios don't do that for me at all.

So hopefully if we do get a more physical CF option they have mobility.

Money may be an issue with him, can see Villa letting him go for a cheap fee and w hi o knows what wages he's on.

    Would be ideal though.

He was linked with a move to China in January. Probably gives you an idea of the wage.

    Kodjia

    17/18 - 19 Appearances, 1 Goal
    18/19 - 44 Appearances, 10 Goals

He's 29, had two good seasons in his career and Villa paid a fee of up to £15 million with a weekly wage of £35,000 for him. Is his recent injury / goal scoring record worth the money he will inevitably cost?

Martins got one season to get us up. Id say that rules a punt out the window in such a key position, so we're left with trying to identify an all round striker who's got pace, power, can play on the counter or with his back to goal.

I wouldnt have Ryan Yates in my side either, but we need players to fit the managers MO. His goal record will be good enough assuming he brings everyone else in like I think he will.

Who also scores goals. Don't forget that bit.

Problem is, they're the kind of strikers that everyone wants and are priced accordingly.

Agree. I don't think we could afford his wages anyway, but even if we did have that sort of money to spend on another striker I would be looking for someone with a much better recent record.

Fair points, but if we're dropping eight figure fees on new signings I'd prefer it to be spent on someone younger, less injury prone and with a better goal scoring record. There's no resale value with Kodjia and a chance he won't even score that many for us.

Half of it is luck with strikers, unless another Grabban comes up (it won’t), then it’s gonna have to be risky signings from lower leagues or abroad.

What would you say is a reasonable amount of goals to expect them to contribute, and therefore a reasonable amount to spend on them?

Same as Ansarifard in January, there's talk of him going to Aris Thessaloniki. Don't expect any money if that comes through.

Looks like him and his dad were watching quite a bit of Aris at the back end of the season.

The latest is , they expect us to release him and Aris are not going to give up getting him to sign for them.
