So many facets to being a football fan for me, so many different elements I enjoy. It's different for each person. But I take a hell of a lot of joy in matters that don't just involve 3pm on a Saturday too.

Someone who believes in people's good intentions unless proven otherwise would say that this is really great, and a proof that EM meant what he said from day one about forging ties with the community (as he has done here).

Then a cynic might jump in, and say, "Nah, that's just PR, man, maybe he wanted to cajole the Council into giving him the lease for the CG".

And then the realist would come in, smack the cynic in the face, and explain to him that the intentions are partly irrelevant, as long as something good is done for local kids and the local community.

Doesn’t have to be dodgy. If they both give something and they both get something, it benefits the club and the city and everyone’s happy (except maybe sadpies and the residents behind the Bridgford end)

As well as the magnanimous nature of these activities I believe it's a very shrewd move by the Big Man

Furthers both scouting net as well as fishing net for fans.

N.B. For an insight to the club's youth set up and scouting pointers I highly recommend The Academy thread

I don't know if it's the same scheme as such, but both my lads at age seven were invited to the WFCG and met a few players, they were given a shirt and tickets to a game, which they had signed, they had a few training sessions with the kids at their school.

That little bit of outlay turned them both into season ticket holders as they were hooked after that first game

    Cost me a bloody fortune!!

If we follow our US cousins then EM can no longer be referred to as "The Owner" but rather a "Managing Partner" or "Governor".

NBA commissioner Adam Silver has endorsed the idea that the league should not use the term “owner.” Speaking to TMZ Sports about the growing movement among some teams to ban the term, Silver stated, "We moved away from that term years ago… I don't want to overreact to the term because, as I said earlier, people end up twisting themselves into knots avoiding the use of the word owner. But, we moved away from that term years ago in the league … We call our team owners 'Governor of the team' and 'alternate Governor.'"

The Philadephia 76ers now refer to their owners as “Managing Partners” and their co-owners as “Limited Partners.” In early June the NBA released a statement to TMZ saying, “We refer to the owners of our teams as Governors. Each team is represented on our Board of Governors.”

So. I see O'Neill was given the precious commodity of time too.

Avé! Duci Novo, Similis Duci Seneci!*

By "relegation battle", do you mean 7th, 12th or 14th?

How a successful businessman makes such a large investment and does not appear to care to protect is really beyond me.

Maybe there is method in his madness and NFFC is just a useful conduit for other more lucrative issue we know nothing about.

Well... The new owners had a grace period when they took over.

That took a battering with the much loved "precious commodity of time" letter followed by the sacking of the manager.

    The grace period has ended.

If we judged the owners by their own standards the "out" banners would have long been flying.

I don't trust the **** as far as I could throw him, literally.
He came in and was given a clean slate from the fanbase but it is becoming increasingly clear that we are simply a vehicle to aid his real club.

Good to see the owners being decisive when a change needed to be made.

As one of the main detractors of O'Neill I hope you're satisfied with this outcome. Wonder how long it'll take until you want the Frenchman out.

If you have some balls you round up a few of the ones you are best rid of and fuck 'em off for breech of contract.
