From our perspective that's been exactly what's needed here for some time, so hopefully it will serve as an example to our current crop.

Nice little warning shot across the bows at our club to any who think they can toss it off & just milk the club.

Karanka has set the right tone so far, with the January cull as a watershed moment and starting places based on performance levels. Maintaining a culture of excellence should be easier next season if he reduces the squad to 24 players as he's suggested.

Good shout. Esp if players like Watson & Figgy are the focus.

Wish this season would hurry up & be done tbh Can see the potential, just want us to get to a stage where it's actually happening.

The latter; everyone, from old and new players, managers, the administration, to the press and the fans, got used to titles without much. The dangers of complacency I've often mentioned.

Now that the opponents have gotten stronger (plus they control the powers that be off the pitch), we need to work in order to regain the no 1 place.

That's a good thing. One of the things EM told the players in his outburst is that he that he prefers to build one from scratch because has become sick of watching the team he loves with that attitude.

He lost that loving feeling. And now he needs to work hard to build a loving feeling again. We're not very patient people, you know.

I wonder to what extent the off field drama with the courts has had an impact on the club.
It certainly had a great impact. He was forced to avoid implication with the club, he even had to name another chairman of the board.
Our justice system was so biased against him for political reasons that one attorney tried to put him in jail because he claimed that marinakis has violated this decision because he entered the dressing rooms in order to talk to players after a match.
Of course it was so silly that was declined by the court. All this was about this story that he released from charges by the higher court last week!!!!!

They forced him to be distant for more than an year. This war affected us seriously.

Bad athletes, wild rumours about constant fights in the dressing room, and constant partying, add to that the constant change of managers and what we saw on the pitch was quite understandable: quality players who were outrun and outplayed by teams costing 1/20 of what Olympiacos costs, players who couldn't pass the ball to their teammates and could only be arsed to try to win once they had conceded.
You came on our forum in Summer saying what you could expect Forest to look like as a club going forward. Perhaps you didn't expect us to rub off more on you, than you on us?

Welcome to Forest, the anti-Midas club, everything we touch turns to shit.

Harsh but unfortunately based on the last20 years fairly accurate, looks like both clubs are going to be transformed next season - bring it on

Well, you should hope that success for the two clubs owned by Marinakis is a zero-sum game: with the year we've had, you would certainly get automatic promotion by mid-season next year.

Guardian's Daniel Taylor gave a long interview to a well-known Greek football journalist about Forest. Nothing really newsworthy: a lot of praise about Marinakis and improvement off the pitch (including, however, a mild rebuke for the fact that he's not present in Nottingham ever), he painted the state of the team before last summer in the darkest of colours, he feels dissapointed by how the team does on the pitch but he is hopefull for next year, after what he is certain will be a busy transfer window.
