The question is, can they? They haven't been shy when it comes to splashing the cash in recent years, but this summer they have sold the crown jewels and have yet to replace them. I feel FFP has finally caught up with them.

Hopefully they continue to struggle to bring in new signings, as their team is currently severely lacking in creativity and attacking threat. As it stands, this is the weakest looking Derby side for many years IMO.

They gotta get rid of the dead wood before they can buy more players, problem is nobody wants their deadwood. They seem confident they're gonna land Tommy Lawrence though. Just sayin' what my sheepie mates are tellin' me down the pub.

Same problem we've have for many years. Since Mel Morris took over, it's almost been like watching the Fawaz era at Forest, signing expensive journeymen and changing managers every five minutes. They even bought back a previously popular manager in McClaren (like we did with Billy) and brought in a manager that plays dour football in Rowett to try and emulate our Dougie phase.

I think it is inconceivable they won't bring in some creative flair. I think the poster on dcfc is right about Huddlestone.

May be right but also Wolves may be one of the best teams this year. It's too early to tell.

They beat Boro last week. It's a good start to the season.

    Rubbish. Wolves are midtable fodder.

Derbys boat has sailed. They've had several chances and fucked it up, like we did.

The players they have brought in and the price of them players means that wolves finishing mid table and being fodder for anyone is massively below par.

I concur on the sheep statement.

Reading on the Derby forums, looks like things are not good. A few knives are being sharpened. Some blaming the manager, tactics etc, others blaming players being shite and players not being replaced. All in all they're not a happy bunch.
Sheepie mates of mine in the pub say Rowett is out of his depth.

Like Brynn said, their boat has well and truly sailed.

My mate who was at the game said they were second to every ball, lumping it long to Martin who was on his own and generally played sh*t football, first time he's left early

That's probably going to affect their attendances in the long run and breed apathy within the fan base. Losing games and disappointing league positions is one thing, but there is nothing worse than sitting through dour, soul destroyingly bad football (as we know all too well from the Dougie era); it makes going to games feel like a chore and drives people away.

Both Forest and Derby will probably finish midtable, but I'd much rather watch the entertaining football Warburton's sides produce than have to endure what Rowett's teams serve up every week.

It's a well known fact that Rowett's teams aint pretty to watch. As I've said before, we dodged a bullet when he went to sheepland and we landed Warbo.

I think Boro will get back up as there is less pressure on them. Villa are in danger of getting stuck in this league.

Villa could be the former "big side" who get marooned and then get cut further adrift like Sheffield United did and end up struggling as the money runs out.

The Championship is a massively difficult league to get out of.

As a team coming down you have two years of chucking money at it and then a struggle to shift the shit that has failed in that final year.... Then your just another also ran no matter what you did in the past.
