Not good enough - sell him while his stock is high.
At least this recognition might continue to inflate his transfer value - Hardy certainly can’t afford him.

I was going to post an sarcastic "not good enough for ..." message but thought better of it.

Glad to see it didn't take long for the real thing to arrive

Should hopefully help us get a fee for him in the summer.

    750k-1m range ?

Unless a Wigan come in for him, doubt any other side in L1 could pay more than that.

But that would still be very good business and if there is competition over him, who knows.

Think that fee is about right, with a sell-on-clause of course.

He's at the age where he needs to either move on or start playing for Forest, and the latter is unlikely to happen.

Considering he was all set to leave on a free last summer it will be good business.

We should be looking to buy lower league talent like that

Just brilliant that we're talking about an 8m gamble on Maddison, but write of even trying Grant.

And folk will turn around in 3-5 years bemoaning the state of the finances

I would be surprised if a League One club could afford that much. As above, maybe a lowish initial fee with lots of add ons and a sell on clause.

It's tough to judge these days. Was just mentioning on the Jack Marriott thread where he was a year ago and what amounts he is being linked with.

Thought I would look back to see which clubs the press were saying that were interested in Grant.

    Wigan
    Bolton
    Norwich
    Brentford
    Bradford
    Oxford

Hopefully not Bolton for his sake.

I’d love to see Brentford’s moneyball player recruitment stat generator. It’s an area they seem to do well at.

Just like we should have stuck with Veldwijk a couple of years ago??

Having said all of that, he’ll most likely end up at Notts for £100k.

Not stuck with Lars, never said that, but tried him out instead of the likes of Akpom or Macheda like I did say? Yes actually. Might work, might not, you lose nothing by trying them out though.

Same with Grant. It's less risk than a multi-million pound lower league buy.

In order to retain that solidity at the back, we're going to need some serious quality in the attacking third next season to become a live contender, thats surely been the moral of the Karanka tenure so far.

Nowt against Grant, didnt think he got a fair crack first time round & he's done all thats been asked at the Saddies, unfortunate timing for the lad, but we're going to need better to push on.

If Grant had the numbers Maddison did in League One over the last 3 seasons I'd agree. If Maddison's buy-out really is <3m I think it'd be great business.

Grant should've been loaned to League One at the start of this season or in January at the very least in my opinion.

Karanka, the fucking coach, will have a say on whether or not he's good enough.

So long as we sign quality, & folk don't come moaning about finances in a few years, I've no issue with it.

As Peterborough would need a replacement for their creative talisman and were rumoured to have an interest in Jorge when he went back to Notts, perhaps he could be part of a deal for Maddison and/or Marriott?

Wasting wages on a player who's never gonna cut it at Forest isn't 'saving' money.

Like I say, so long as folk don't come moaning in several years, that's fair enough.

Invest, back, enjoy. It's the shandying-out part & u-turning I've an issue with.

He's probably on 1/20 of Murphy, its about working out the risk and reward. In this case the risk is pretty low..

Alf surely you know that every time we spend money on players they are absolute winners (just look at the last 10 years)!!!
