Default A Brief History of Team

    *Shameless plug alert*

I'm a bit Forest History-ed out after last year, so I've started a new online project with a wider scope. My aim is to publish a short history of every single club to have played in the English Football League, which when you stop and consider it, is an undertaking that will probably keep me busy into retirement. That said, I'm not planning on doing it all myself and am inviting fellow football history enthusiasts to contribute their own articles of about 1000 words - the main stipulation being that you can't write about your own club. The aim is to be entertaining and thought-provoking rather than particular comprehensive. If I can complete the set, I will then re-publish the essays in a book.

I've done three clubs so far (chosen for no particular reason):

    Rotherham United

    Cardiff City

    Preston North End

If you like what you read, please please please consider doing one - or all - of the following:

    - Comment on the article - any feedback welcome, even if it's just pointing out a typo!

    - Subscribe to the email list.

    - Sharing the links on socials and so on.

Also, I'm sure one or two on here would be interested in contributing. All the info is here, just PM me if you want to be involved.

Now wonder my post count... but the website now also has a Twitter account:

As well as links to new articles, I'll be tweeting various quotes and historical titbits and any news that might be of interest to football history buffs.

    Derby County

A team created from the genetic and sexual experimentation with sheep conducted by Dr. S Shagger. Originally all their players were shaven sheep and they played a version of bulldog but with a very different outcome for those who were caught.

A hundred or so years of inbreeding and refining the human/sheep hybrid led to the development of players like Richard Keogh. You can see his facial features are more sheep based than his mostly human skeleton, the biggest giveaway though is his face when he's fucked up, poor lamb.

    I didn't know that!
Having checked it out I don't think Darwen did become Blackburn Rovers... existed as a separate club until 2008,
