What's he done to suggest that he's capable of that in the last three years? West Brom didn't think he was good enough for their play off push and he struggled in a Celtic team that is twice as good as the rest of that league combined.

If he needs developing then it's wasting a loan slot. Clearly the lad either lacks the drive or the right attitude that a side like ours is in need of at the moment.

That move seems to have come far too soon for him and he's not dealt with it well. It will be interesting to see if Bilic gives him a chance if he takes the job.

Very little. But I think he still has the raw ability that will suit MON, and also think MON will get him back to his best if given the opportunity

I have a mate who supports West Brom and he has no time for him. I told him I'd have Burke back at Forest, and he said he'll drive him to the City Ground. He also said Burke's a player who requires his 'own personal fitness regime'.

I’d rather persevere with either Goncalves or Dias. Both contributed far more in the Championship than Burke last season.

But personally I’d rather sign a quality player on loan rather than dredging the depths of West Brom’s bomb squad.

He's never had a best to get back to though, Alf. What he's had is consistently poor form. There was one August a few years back when he was here that he looked a world beater but that's it.

You, like me, were very anti the Ishmael Miller signing because we could see that his track record was not very good, but when he joined us he wasn't much older than Burke is now - yet even he'd done far more on the pitch. Not saying Burke is going to turn out to be as bad as Miller, but we seem to grasping at similar straws. Assuming that the exception of a brief bit of form is the rule vs years of the opposite.

I'd have him back if he was a free transfer on low wages but that's not realistic. It might be in a couple of years if he carries on as he is. Seems like he needs a move lower down the leagues to somewhere he will play every week and build something for himself. Our history with bringing back former players is rough too

Turned out to be the best thing Fawaz did, although at the time most were up in arms over 'only' getting £13 mil.
