    Default Forest Player goes "HD"

From the "about bloody time" department:

Let's hope they can fix the dropout issues too.

Does HD make a difference when viewing on phones or PC? The only time I've ever really taken any note is with porn, and even then it's much of a muchness.

Use fli player app on iPhone and android, to stop the drop outs. Never had a problem with that.

Can anybody that has it confirm it actually is HD? Last time they 'upgraded' the quality got even worse. I'll renew if they have upgraded it. About time they entered the 21st century.

Are you sure that wasn't just the manager?

Too little, too late. This last season was the final straw. I'll either find a stream or I'll find something else to do with my afternoon.

You'll still be buying a new kit though won't you?

Why would I need a Forest kit? I don't play for them... if they want me to promote their business for them, I'll have one for free and wear it without asking for a penny from them. Can't say fairer than that! There's plenty of Hull City fans round here who'll be looking for a new club soon, unless they are glory hunting hypocrites. Might as well send them Forest's way.

The way our squad is shaping up for next season, get your boots and get down to the City Ground in early August - you might get a game.

I'd cross the street to avoid someone who looks like Jamie Paterson, why would I want to be in his gang? For the added bonus of every prick on here suddenly becoming an expert in my attitude, mindset and abilities? What a privilege!

The quality is definitely miles better. The highlights aren't blurred any more! I hope they sort out commentary issues, too, making it more in real-time
    instead of two-three mins behind.

Not possible. We are used to radio and old analogue TV signals, which travel at light speed once transmitted, slowing to the speed of sound once they exit your speaker. But that's still pretty fast over a short distance. You can measure the delay in milliseconds. Flats overlooking a ground could once watch live on screen and out of the window, with little appreciable delay. I'd imagine now the TV in said flat is some distance behind the live action, because it has to be captured and converted to a digital signal, converted to the broadcast format, broadcast, received, decoded by the TV and displayed. The sharper the image, the longer that takes. HD channels are a little behind SD ones, even on digital. It's slower than analogue and always will be.

They didn't mention that during the switchover, did they? The internet will be slower still, because it relies on buffering, various codecs, traffic congestion, dropouts, your computer being busy doing other things and so on. Progress may reduce the time deficit, but it won't get rid of it by any appreciable margin. Twitter and this forum will still be the first place anyone following the match online hears about a goal. It's either sturdy high capacity networks or data-light, low traffic ones. Mass streaming is much, much slower than that. They don't tell you that when they are flogging Player either, do they?

Piss poor service, FP is aimed at people like me who can't listen to RN due to us not being in the area, Sadly after many years of putting up with it I ditched it this year.
I would only sign up again if it was either half price or they streamed every home match live in HD ( I would pay more for this )
So take note this is 2015 not 2005

It is a hell of lot better now. But every home match streamed live that would be great! Oh but hang on... Sky have bought up the rights to not show our games again. Pity....

But that'd be backwards - betamax was a better format and higher resolution
