    Default Stuart Pearce - Owner?

Today I had the immense pleasure to meet Stuart at Collectormania in Milton Keynes.
What follows is a conversation we had:

    Me: Hi Stuart.
SP: Hi, Thanks for coming down.
Me: I wanted to thank you for coming back to the club last year, and I'm so sorry with the way it ended, but thank you for galvanising everyone associated with the club. It was a pleasure to turn up in August. And of course that first game.
    SP: Thanks
Me: Would you ever consider coming back? Just to watch a game or...
SP: I am coming back........as owner. I'm going to buy Fawaz out and run the club the way it should be run. It's a fantastic club that totally deserves it.
Me: Well......er......That would be incredible. I'm sure all the fans would be behind you all the way. (Here I tried to make a joke to him) I have a fiver which you could take and add to your take over fund.
SP: When I'm in charge, come find me and I'll give you a fiver for being so supportive.
Me: OK. I look forward to your return, and thank you for everything you've done.
SP: Thank you. It's a fantastic club.

With that I had to move on from the signing table.

Now.....that's an interesting discussion. And Pearce does have a very dry sense of humour. When he is on TV or Radio he will crack jokes but never laughs.
However, when he was talking to me he was very serious. It didn't feel like him making one of his jokes. In fact, he was pointing at me when talking. In that type of confirmation movements that people do to put their point across with even more passion. Honestly, it felt sincere.
It's annoying I couldn't ask him more about it, but I had to move along to let the next person get an autograph.

Of course, it's all worth taking with a pinch of salt etc. And if he was making a joke then I fell for it completely and well played Stuart. But....maybe....just maybe...He is serious about what he said.

All it would take is for Pearce to front a consortium or front a bid from an investment group. But the main thing is would Fawaz sell? It's his baby and he would feel that he is a failure to the people of Kuwait if he doesn't gain promotion whilst he is owner.

Plus you can't say Pearce has had a drink because he's tee total these days.

Just because someone is legend is dosent mean they will be good managers or owners as a rule. I would love to see what kind of bid it would be.

not as far fetched as it sounds is psycho stayed in contact with faulkner, faulkner is highly regarded within the game and could possibly been able to put together a consortium with psycho fronting it.

lets be honest it cant be run any worse than it currently is

Yes it could, it could be a lot worse. This is the most ridiculous suggestion ever on this forum (and that's saying something!)

Pearce knew the writing was on the wall last October as he didn't trust associates at the club who were not employees.

Well we only bought into a fridge man taking over because he was an Arab haha If he`d been fridge man Fred from Filey there would`ve been suicides off Trent Bridge on horror.

Pearce was brilliant on the Clare Balding show alongside the brilliant Gazza and Seaman.

Certainly reminded me how gutted I was that it didn't work out for him and infused my dislike for our prima donnas.

Now that would be awesome. Can't see it being true though... (not having a pop at thread maker, just saying he was likely joking :P)

Thanks for the share. I'd like him to come back as head of recruitment. Brought in a few gems.

Can't see any takeover working, even with SP heading it. Hasn't worked at other clubs with similar ex players

Lets hope there is some grain of truth in this. As much as I like Fawaz's enthusiasm for spending money for what he believes is for the good of the club, I personally don't think he has a clue about what he is doing. There does not appear to be any cohesive plan and what structure there was in the club has been ripped apart over the last few years.
