Thread: Nottingham Forest's Greatest Ever Goals (Poll 2 - 1991/92 to 2014/15 seasons)

  1. #1

Default Nottingham Forest's Greatest Ever Goals (Poll 2 - 1991/92 to 2014/15 seasons)

As with the other thread, feel free to pick up to 10 goals (and exactly 10 is ideal).

Those getting the most votes (or maybe any votes) will go into another poll, with others from 1898 to 1990/91.

Here is the main thread, started by Francis Benali (on loan):
    http://www.forestforum.co.uk/showthr...=42827&page=17

Note: (Poll in process of being created - 158 goals to list!)

    Done.

    Bohinen (vs Sheff Weds away)
    Jenas (vs Bradford)
Dex (vs Brizzle City home) - more for the meaning of it than anything else.
    Tyson (vs Man City away)
    Cohen (vs Blackpool play-offs)
    Cohen (vs WBA away)
    Majewski (vs WBA away)
    McGugan (vs Ipswich home)
    Cox (vs Birmingham)
    Tesche (vs Charlton)

Some great technique goals in there and I'd give 3rd place to Tesche and 2nd place to Cox, but 1st place to Cohen's goal against West Brom, which is about the only time in the past fifteen years I've genuinely been excited at a Forest team who were slick and ruthless.

    Proud father of the :whoosh:

Just to confirm that you can select 10 options - no problem re: anyone that selected one of course but just to try and make sure everyone knows it's multiple choice if they want to select up to 10, with 10 being ideal. I think on one or both polls a vote or two might include more than 10 but I'll leave that for Francis Benali (on loan) to decide on - whether to PM anyone and ask them to drop a couple of goals or not. In a way if someone goes slightly over that compensates for those who pick less than 10 I guess.

In terms of abbreviations on this thread not on the other one, I think it is just ZDS F which stands for ZDS Cup Final (I see for one of the goals the F has gone onto a second line anyway though now). Slight typo on Andy Johnson's name for one goal but I think that's my only one on this thread, to add to the Storey-Moore Arsenal goal on the other one that should've been labelled as 71/72 not 71/71! I know anyone voting for that who saw it at the time will know which goal it is though.

I'm now thinking Collymore got two against Bristol City (haven't been to check on Youtube) in 93/94 but if so I think the one listed is his 2nd but it's the one where Bohinen plays him a ball from near the Forest box and Collymore cuts inside past a defender and curls/swerves the ball around the goalie into the net. Like I say it's on Youtube, and also on that goals video I did (in part 1, goal 17). It's the game where Webb scores from a low cross, and also Stan sets up Woan for a goal which I stuck on one of the videos on that Vimeo channel but realised I didn't add to the list for the poll - still I don't think anyone else had mentioned it anyway.

Must admit to finding it harder to just pick 10 in this section than the early, with the advent of tv, sky etc every goal from every game is shown & from every angle. How do you choose the top goals on what merit
effort, skill or the importance of the goal, ie relegation or promotion. The early poll was slightly easily with the lack of tv coverage in those days, must admit in memory I can think of a few which never made the
    TV recordings.

    Another bump for this one

13 voters have voted on this thread after a week, and there are 4 goals with at least 4 votes....

    - McGugan's free-kick that swerved banana-style into the corner of the Ipswich net leads the way.

    - Next is the Raddy Majewksi volley at West Brom

    - Then another (even more) recent goal from Osborn at Derby is tied with Collymore's promotion sealing left-foot drive after Stone's pass at Peterborough.

5 goals have 3 votes each: Collymore's away goal is edging his other in terms of the goals vs Man Utd in 94/95, Bohinen's goal at Sheffield Wednesday is edging things as far as his chips from that season go, Des Walker's only goal with the late left foot drive vs Luton in 91/92, Blackstock's important volley vs Bristol City and Cohen's goal at Blackpool in the Play-Offs with the outside of the boot movement.

Are you trying to tell me that didn't take 100% skill and finesse for it to bounce off him from a yard out? How dare you

Same message as on thread/poll 1:

"Bumping this now than Francis, but then we can keep bumping over the next couple of weeks and asking any latecomers to just list 10 goals from the poll if you like then?"

Bump - open for a couple of weeks more to allow others to choose 10 goals to vote for by listing them on a post (poll closing date was yesterday but we can add further votes on to the tallies before the next round of voting).
