Default S0 - For next season we have who ? Don't read if Doom and Gloom upsets yer.

No Darlow, Barrow, Gardner, Lascelles, Kane or Akpom. Don't know who's contracts are up. Have Lansbury and Freedman had a bust up ? Should we try and offload Wilson ? Will Antonio stay cos we're sure to have bids for him - can't see it myself. Then we have the 1/2 season crocks - Reid, Fryatt, Hobbs, Blackstock. Fox is simply not good enough. Assombalonga may never play again or if we're lucky he might be back in April 2016 ?

How on earth are we expected to compete at the top of the Championship with the issues above and whoever's left ?

    Unmentioned players:-

    De Vries
    Lichaj
    Mancienne
    Collins
    Cohen
    Veldwijk
    Paterson
    Vaughan
    Evtimov
    Burke
    Walker
    Grant
    Osborn

With the embargo in force I'm really not sure what we should expect next season other than a long and very hard one when Fawaz's hopes are for top 6 minimum.

Who's coming back from loans apart from Tesche? Mackie ? Anyone else ? We'll do well to avoid the bottom 3 in 2015/2016 unless there are some dramatic changes with plenty going out.

If we were starting from a clean sheet I personally would keep Burke, Walker, Grant, Osborn, De Vries (as no2 to someone else - David Forde from Millwall ?), Mancienne if he plays at CB, Cohen and Lichaj. That's 8. Add Mackie and Tesche - 10. Will Reidy play again and if so how often, can't count him in really. Lansbury will probably go with Antonio. Add in Fryatt, Hobbs and Blackstock and we have 13.

"We're reet int shit". Oh - hang on I've forgotten McLaughlin.

We'll have five Premier League loanees in the team. Probably next season and all the ones after that until they relax the rules and allow clubs to start games with a full team of loanees. Then our whole squad will be Premier League loanees. Forest players will cease to exist.

Who knows who'll we'll sign. Depends who the first half of the season manager wants. We don't need to worry about the 10k rule. There is a bottomless pit of Premier League players available for loan and somehow it is growing. The second half manager will select a whole new bunch of them in February. Panini will make stickers that lose their adhesiveness after three months.

Hunt, Darlow, Lascelles, Ince, Kane, Gardner, Barrow, Akpom. These deals are ten a penny. We'll have another bunch like this. They'll include players you probably wouldn't even think of now, and probably won't think of again after they leave.

    We aren't.

Next season will be about mid-table mediocrity and we won't be able to push on until we can exit the FFP-enforced embargo.

    This^

The realistic Prem dream ended last season when we put Brazil in charge.

Priorities are now where they were Dec 2008 - stay up and avoid being a League 1 club.

Any manager here who has us top 10 is doing a great job. Next year especially.

It was nice to dream a dream for a while, but we'll never get anywhere if we don't start backing managers when they are actually doing well, instead of saving that backing for some grass is greener option. As we have done year after year after year, since 2011.

We could probably do with a season like 2001-02. Beasant, Rogers, Calderwood, Vaughan, Gray, Johnson, Bart-Williams, John all left. Jenas was sold. Only Ward came in.

A few big earners who hadn't done much stayed on and eventually performed - Brennan, Johnson, Scimeca. Prutton and Harewood were given more of chance. Who else - Doig, Edds, older Dawson? Williams, Reid, Thompson, Bopp, Westcarr came through. The following season Dawson came in and Walker was added on a free. They'd be more loanees in this era, to steady the transition and keep us out of trouble.

Maybe we could also have a go in the cups? As you only need a handful of good performances to get somewhere in those.

We could end the season proud of our team for a change. It would beat the last few seasons hands down.

I think the constant changes are a major source of the lack of team pride. How can any player invest anything more than a passing interest in the club when they know it's only a few months at best before another wholesale change is made?

A season that would be embarrassing for Fawaz in front of his pals. He won't go for it.

I genuinely think that next season will be Fawaz last. And I will be surprised if he stays all of that.

Im struggling to believe that Fawaz will allow for another mid table year, despite everything he says.

I just think being dictated to by the restrictions of FFP and the lack of progress we have made will send him over the edge.

I appreciate and understand your concerns, but why not just add them to one or more of the several other threads on the same theme?

    "Planning for next season"
    "FFP - Theoretically"
    "The Forgotten Men"

    .......to name but three.

The key to competing at the top of the Championship seems to be all about who can loan the best players.

Not sure how this is healthy for football, but then the Premiership does seem intent on crushing the life out of everything that isn't the Premiership.

We're not going to be alone in the FFP sanctions though are we. Leeds and Blackburn have embargos too and I can only assume that Boltons 9.1 million loss (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32138946)included losses outside of FFP.

Presumably Newcastle paying Lascelles and Darlows wages will have saved us some money this year and I would hope that at least part of the wages for the injured players would be covered by insurance.

Some of the players may not be the best in the world, but if they can be taught to play as a team from front to back then they could be very effective. The players who were injured could last the whole season, we won't know till next season. Hopefully they will have recovered fully by then.

If Reid or Cohen get another bad injury next year, they may as well retire. Three seasons of playing less than half a season and they may be unemployable other than on a game to game contract.

If Assombalonga comes back fully fit around February next year it could be the boost we need to save our season, be it to push for the top six or to escape relegation. He would be like the January window signing they may not let us have. Lets be honest, no one will buy him while he's crocked.

One thing is for sure. Whatever happens next year, as Forest fans we will get to enjoy moaning about the referees, how we were robbed, how bad some of the players were, how they lack heart. There will be those who will call for the managers head regardless of how well the team do and others who would give him more time. There will be those who still bemoan the treatment of past managers like SOD and WMD and will believe we could have been contenders were they still here. We are after all, Nottingham Forest fans. As a group, we are bi-polar in our nature, lurching between the highs and lows of the game. You only have to look at some of the matchday reports to see how a few minutes can change peoples feelings.

Whatever happens next season & whoever is playing, one thing is for sure, it will be emotional for the fans, and not just because of the 150th. Bring it on!

It would be ever so nice for the players to not under-achieve and to play to their potential for just one season.

I can't believe how depressing this forum is getting. I have to keep checking that I haven't stumbled onto Vital by accident. I'm actually looking forward to seeing what Dougie can do next season.

I'm quite looking forward to next season too. At least there will have to be a different approach. We all moan when these expensive signings underperform. Maybe we'll see something different?

Said that two months ago and got laughed at.

We've got a top 6 squad, innit. Must be true cos Beagrie said so.

Let's just fill the team with kids, get relegated, keep the kids together, spend a couple of years in League 1, win back-to-back promotions, challenge bravely for Europe in our first season back at the top, then sell them all to Liverpool and United for a total £150m. FFP sorted.

It's so straightforward, I don't know why I'm the only one who's thought of it.

I must admit I am looking forward to next season, merely to see what Dougie Freedman can do with what's left of our squad.

I'm also hopeful to see what Leon Hunter our new recruitment chap, can bring to the squad.

I'd settle for watching a team based around young, hungry players to a season or two.

I'm fed up with season after season watching overpaid mercenaries bleed our club dry. Let's try something different.

I think this is cause for optimism. Perhaps the penny has dropped with Fawaz that chucking good money after bad at "name" players is how you bankrupt yourself stay rooted in the same division.
