    Default Leon Hunter

    http://www.nottinghamforest.co.uk/ne...r-2360624.aspx

Leon Hunter, new head of recruitment / football coordinator / director of football or whatever you want to call it.

Interestingly enough he was approached by Fawaz a few years back so it doesn't look like a "quick get somebody in" appointment as he has been after him for a while.

    From Stevenage website:

"The highly-rated 33-year old has been previously linked with several Championship outfits and will now move to The City Ground. During his three years at The Lamex Stadium, Hunter has overhauled the club’s player identification and scouting network, whilst working closely with the club’s academy.

Chairman Phil Wallace says, "We are sorry to see Leon leave us but it's an upward step for him which we all knew was inevitable, so we are also delighted he's going to a great club like Forest. He has a remarkable knowledge of players at all levels and an ability to communicate with players, owners and managers, bringing them together to get deals done.

"He's learnt a lot in his 3 years with us and he belongs at the highest level. We wish him the very best in his new career."

Oh cool. I recall when we were after him previously. He'll bee essential if we're picking up 'rising stars' from juniors and lower tiers.

dont know much about this guy but i think psycho's recruitment of playing staff showed how important a solid scouting knowledge and player identification model is. also like already stated above with FFP over our heads quality loan sigings and free transfers are going to be important. hopefully all respective parties can work well together and be on the same page. he seems to have left stevenage with a glowing reference and i quite like this youthful approach to our management structure, hopefully more modern day thinking coupled with some older head experience with mcgovern and lawrence. positive!!

The question now is will fawaz let him do his job or keep him on a tight leash?

Well spotted. Never heard of the man but it is reassuring to know that this comes from a long-term interest and not a momentary whim.

Somebody who is used to working with a limited budget and who knows the lower leagues is an interesting addition.
Sensible approach by Fawaz it seems.

    Yes! At last.
This is the kind of appointment we need in order to begin moving this club into the twenty first century.
Fawaz obviously read and acted on my tweet to him.

Without knowing too much about him, his reference suggests this is a shrewd appointment. Whilst Fawaz appears to be on a roll, He should give Freedman a contract with a sensible time frame to build the club & resist all offers for our best players. This will give players and fans alike something to really buy in to.

This is a pretty smart move. Hunter basically single-handedly transformed Stevenage's scouting network from a haphazard, disorganised non-league set-up to one that is the envy of their League two rivals in the space of just three years, giving them a stable platform to compete at the top end of League 2.

Of course, Fawaz will probably change his mind and sack him before the end of the season.

Well if Leon Hunter can do similar for us, then he will be an extremely worthwhile asset.

I've long thought our scouting and recruitment could be improved - looks like this is the start of that.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“
