My youngest son, Ben, was born on the 21st of March. So I never will forget Cloughie's birthday. Great planning on my part. U reds.

As a Ram, I hope you won't mind me adding my gratitude to those on here.

The greatest English manager to ever draw breath. Thank you, Sir Brian.

    What a fantastic article.

Love this quote from Spain's El Mundo Deportivo about the first European Cup winning side:

"Everybody works for everybody else," the paper noted. "When they attack, they have nine strikers. When they defend, they have nine defenders. Whoever has the ball always has three or four players to pass to."
As Clough himself said - football's a simple game.

"László Kubala, Barcelona's Hungarian icon, was more generous: "I liked Nottingham. They played their game and we have to learn from them. They played without the ball, marked their men, and went into combat with passion."

    László Kubala! High praise indeed.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

Nice rousing chorus of Happy Birthday at the game. Plus a few "Brian Clough's Red and White Army".

I speak regularly with a Derby fan who says the same. Many are of this opinion simply because of the enormous impact he made on teams that were not necessarily what you'd consider 'big'.

When he was in charge it was something else entirely.
