Default Next Season, more mid table ?

Mentioned on Radio Nottingham yesterday, with the long term injury to Brit Assombalonga and two more transfer windows to pass, without the club being able to set the stall out for influential signings, is the writing already on the wall, for yet another season treading water ?.

Always the possibility of Freedman turning into Merlin the Magician, coaching and preparing this group to such a high standard, that ala Burnley, we will be fine. He has to scout around the Bosman players, with a wage cap of £10,000 per week, other clubs chasing the same targets will know this, so I feel the White Rabbit will remain elusive, despite what the heart says.

Relegation will not be optional under Freedman, I feel he will rigid in his organisation and team shape, not built to thrill, but pragmatic under the circumstances, so I feel we may be due for a season of plodding along.

The big question of course being, will this produce the stability so desperately needed at the club, will Fawaz settle for this unambitious route, whilst continuing to spend money to maintain the status quo ?

As supporters, have we yet come to terms with the impact the trànsfer embargo will have on the club, head scratching times ahead.

I don't mind. We got ourselves into this mess so we deserve the penalties being enforced.
The sad thing is some people will be calling for his head come October time.

I think mid table reall, especially with Britt out, maybe Antonio leaving too. This season itself should have been one of consolidation.

Good. Finally. Cup run season. One run in each. It's all about the cup next season.

It's pretty sad that we are writing next season off already. Can't really argue with the reasons though

or maybe Forest fans have finally caught up with the realistic expectations of their club and we are doomed to mid table mediocrity for the next 100 years.

which is probably even more sad.

A couple of weeks ago people were saying this was a top six squad if we had a decent manager.

So let me get this right

Let's say we sold Antonio in July for 3 million, we can't use that 3 million to purchase other players?

    Hang on -

Many people just a few weeks ago were stating quite confidently that this is a top two team who should easily stroll into the playoffs as a bare minimum if they had the right manager in place.

The majority of those players will still be there next season so why should we be settling for mid table given, we are confidently told by many, that this is a top two team?

Or have positions suddenly been revised?

Is anyone under the impression that we need more players in order to succeed? Even if we didn't have an embargo I don't think spending much would be necessary. We just need to get the current crop performing at their best.

    Nope.

I'd be delighted with midtable. I'm really worried about going down next season. Defend like we did against 8-man Blackpool, and we will.

It's pathetic how we're so comfortable with failure. We've got the winning mentality of a fucking gerbil

We need to balance the books or gamble on promo again, For me I would sell and balance the books, Antonio, Lansbury would bring in £6m to smooth out the books, Add youth to the squad O Burke and a few others and bingo we could do it.

I think the answer to the thread is a yes imo.

The youngsters have to prove they're up for it as we cannot keep relying on building teams around injury prone players. Let's see some good football.

We'll be ok, but Fawaz has to accept this or sail into the sunset, because it's the likely outcome unless our youngsters are in a similar mould to the Beckham Giggs Scholes era when they came through. Mind you if they were we'd soon sell 'em.

Influential signings don't have to be expensive...

It's like we're using the embargo as an excuse for acceptable mid-table nothingness, but the reason we've got an embargo is because we've spent lots of money on expensive players that should be able to get the job done. Play-offs minimum next season, as it should've been this season

He doesn't necessarily have to coach to such a high standard. A decent run usually breeds confidence which in turn breeds momentum. Confidence and momentum are incredibly understated on these forums as folk are too busy trying to prove their expertise rattling on about tactics.

Throw in a bit of luck with injuries, suspensions, refereeing decisions etc and you can find yourself in a very good position. If you can time that decent run at the business end of the season then any one of a dozen club can come out of the chasing pack. There's been a long list of poor coaches that have managed a promotion from the championship in the last decade. You don't need to be Brian Clough.

I'm glad that some fans are expecting us to tread water mid table. Less expectation = Less Pressure = More stability and a better chance of Freedman making it until the end of next season with a group of settled players.

Result = Automatic promotion next season!!!

There might be something in this!

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

This is just ridiculous, because if we plod along mid table at the start of next season, people will be throwing themselves in the Trent.

I think more and more supporters are accepting the situation. Question is, will the Owner?
