You're right about the buzz that his signing created. I was really excited at what he might do for us. Then I saw him play.

This isn't simply a case a not liking a certain player or being overly critical because of optimistic expectations. The guy can't run, can't jump and barely looks like he's ever kicked a football. After I saw him at Rochdale (better than Rochdale teams of old but still only a top half team in League One) I commented on the match thread that he looked like a bloke who had won a competition in his local pub to pretend to be a professional footballer for a day.

I'll be interested to know which games the people saying he should be playing saw him play in. Because I haven't heard many comments from others about his performances being anything other than abject.

If he were to show glimpses of quality we could get behind the lad and encourage him on. The fans would have gave him these games to see hopefully that we have a capable centre forward for next season.

But it seems to have been dismissed out of hand by Dougie. Why?
Yea exactly and he might just have settled in a bit and scored one or 2 and then we'd have a potential option for next season, now we'll never know. And what has Akpom done, nothing. Another stupid decision by Forest.

One thing Akpom has going for him is pace. Most of the successful teams in this League this season have pacey, busy players. We are too ponderous by far. More pace, and not just blazing down the wing pace, but quick ten yards bursts to receive the ball and then move it on.

Absolutely spot on. The common denominator with Watford, Bournemouth, Brentford & Middlesborough is the speed at which they move the ball.

A run of starts is what Veldwijk needs to get confidence into his play. Doesn't matter how fair it is, some players need a run of starts. You can either give them that or fuck them off somehwere else where they get it and become decent, like Garner and McGoldrick.

He's an Arsenal player. He'll have no choice but to mould himself into a lone striker if he wants to succeed there. Wenger probably thinks about him as more of a Danny Welbeck type.

Scored a hat-trick for Arsenal,s first team in Singapore yesterday maybe the lad needs a bit of time and patience not the Forest way these days.

Or maybe he just needs to think to himself that no matter who he is playing for that it is actually Arsenal.

Different game when Wiltshire & Oxlade are teeing it up, but Tom Ince should have taught us, good players dont necessarily prevail in unfamiliar positions on name alone.

Akpoms failure centred on lack of service, he dropped deeper & deeper to collect the ball to compensate for it. It wasnt working, either re evaluate the plan, or put your own in for the experience.

    Hopefully lesson learned.

Plus they actually move about for each other to give their team mates options in the first place. They actually want to pass the ball to each other.

Aint he the guy who we loaned from arsenal and played him instead of our own youth player in walker so arsenal would be our football friend?

    Yes. That's the chap.

That worked out well, didn't it.

Hull have got a midfield though. They'll get it to wingers in advanced positions who will cross it to him. He'll have had as much supply this game as he had in his time with us.

And isn't Clucas the youth who wouldn't be good enough for us back when he was at Mansfield?

Always looked a good player. The nice thing about loaning a player from Arsenal, is you know they have a good chance of getting into the Arsenal team (and possible England). Unlike the many Chelsea loanees.
