The PETERS have knocked out the CHRISES already. That game was definitely shown live on Sky. Two teams that may have fancied their chances of going all the way this year meeting early. In the end, the CHRISES just lacked a punch. You can't down Shilton with Bart-Williams and Commons as your main goal threat. Nobody knows the importance of a well balanced 5-aside team better than all the brilliant Garys and Garrys sat watching from that stands at the Capital FM Arena because they couldn't find a goalkeeper.

    PETERS 2
    Peter Shilton
    Peter Hindley
    Peter Cormack
    Peter Davenport
    Peter Withe

    CHRISES 1
    Chris Woods
    Chris Fairclough
    Chris Cohen
    Kris Commons
    Chris Bart-Williams

It is currently IANS 2 FRANKS 0, but that game is not over by any means. Frank Forman is disgusted at his omission, as is Ian Wright. It is about balance though guys. Ian Butterworth wasn't a better footballer than Ian Wright, but with Bowyer, Woan, Storey-Moore and Wright in the outfield the Ians would have been left wide open.

    FRANKS
    Frank Drabble
    Frank Clark
    Frank Gray
    Frank O'Donnell
    Frank Wignall

    IANS
    Iain Turner
    Ian Butterworth
    Ian Bowyer
    Ian Woan
    Ian Storey-Moore

Play if you want. Who wins Franks or Ians? Every post to indicate an Ian or Frank win is a goal to that side. Otherwise, I'll just get my head down and plough on.

That's your lot Franks. 2-0 to the Ians.

The JACKS and JOHNS have kicked off and already the JOHNS are 1-0 up. Don't have to explain why. The JACKS don't belong on the same pitch as the JOHNS. We're expecting a cricket score here.

Can't believe Jack Burkitt wasn't picked ahead of Jack Biscuit, sorry, Hobbs

Also disappointing to note the absence of the Jims and Bills (and, on a personal note, the Grahams) from this tournament

That was an oversight. Burkitt has turned up late and has been thrown straight in. Hunt has been given the hook. Blake remains to give the Jacks some balance.

A vote is a goal. If this is a vote for the JOHNS in this one, which it appears to be, then that makes it JOHNS 2 JACKS 0.

JOHNS would walk through the JACKS. There is a class gulf.

    Jims are Jameses.

There's room for late additions. I'll crowbar in some qualifying rounds. We need a full team though. And a team includes a goalkeeper. So if you have 5 BILLS including a goalkeeper they can play. I think we can just about cobble together a TOMS. They'd be fodder, but then so are the JACKS.

3-0 JOHNS. This one ends at 2pm. That can't come fast enough for the JACKS. Burkitt is wishing he hadn't bothered.

    Of course, my mistake.

    I like this thread!

And the Johns would definitely batter the Jacks!

How the hell do you not have a team of Dannys in this competition? We've got half a squad of them this season as it is!!!!

DANNYS can still go in. But we need a team of five. And there has to be a keeper.

And if somebody can name a goalkeeper for the GARYS, they'd be a real contender. But as it stands, they can't enter.

You done Dan, Dannys, Daniels? Not sure they'd score but great defenses

Need a goalkeeper. No goalkeeper. No entry. This is a serious tournament.
