    Default De Vries off!

According to Taylor. Expects it to be wrapped up in the next day or so

Haven't we had a story saying the exact opposite too? No new contracts offered?!

This morning he was tweeting "no contracts for a month at least"

I understand Dougie needs a month to look at the likes of Collins & Tesche, but Devries is a more pressing case because we have no cover. With Darlow off, the Devries contract has got to be a formality.

"Freedman has been so impressed by De Vries' attitude he wants to get it tied up quickly."

Hope so. Dorus is a model pro, and in my opinion our best goalkeeper. Never heard a bad thing come from him since he has been here.

I think you have to be as a keeper. You can't strop or moan about not playing really because at some stage in your career, it's inevitable that you won't.

Hope he stays, he is a bloody good keeper that we really shouldn't be letting go of if we can help it!

For those that don't have twitter (it's in reverse order):

    Paul Taylor @nottmtails
Don't think there will be a lot of pointless hanging around under Freedman. He 'expects' answer over offer by tomorrow. #nffc

    Paul Taylor @nottmtails
Freedman so impressed by de Vries' attitude that he now wants deal sorted for keeper in next 24 hours #nffc

    Paul Taylor @nottmtails
Things move quickly under Freedman... Having said he wanted a month before talking new contracts on Sat, de Vries is now close to new deal

    Paul Taylor @nottmtails
Personally, I'd hand de Vries a new contract today. But I've seen him play this season and Freedman needs time to form his own opinion #nffc

I really do like DDV he seems such a decent bloke , As keepers go he could be a cult hero for us. Put him in goal and keep him there.

DDV is a placement keeper until one of our young academy keepers grow of age.

Hope he signs up, he's a solid keeper at this level and let's not kid ourselves, that's what we need.

I don't see why we should develop Newcastle's reserve goalie for them anymore, stick Dorus in and build a defence in front of him.

I'd like to see young Evtimov on the bench this season too.

is he really any good? we always seem to lose when he plays. he's also made a couple of bad errors, like the one at sheffield utd.

A lot of that was down to the Keystone Kops in front of him.

He's proven at this level, was excellent for Swansea too.

When you really haven't played for 2 years you are going to make mistakes, Doris was just finding his feet again when he was dropped. Hoping a new contract and dougie putting him back in goal will do him the world of good.

The bullet header against Millwall shows he's good. That would of gone in v Darlow

As he's our goalkeeper and he'll likely be next year and not just for our remaining seventeen dead rubbers, he should be playing now.

There will be a couple of games in the league next season where our keeper is de Vries and their's is Darlow and we'll wonder why we chose to give Darlow, not de Vries, the game time at the back end of this season.

The Derby save & the Millwall save from the header suggests he comes up with big saves at the right times. Should be starting IMO. Cant see what Darlow brings that DDV doesnt.

He brilliantly kept us in the game at the Ipoo when we were 1-0 down. Giving us that platform for the 2nd-half.

I was behind that and it was not a "bullet" header whatsoever. It was a fairly comfortable save well within reach for him, you'd back any keeper to have saved that If you want to talk about the Millwall game, look at De Vries when McLaughlin heads the ball back to him - still in his 6 yard box! If he wasn't glued to his line and stood a few yards off his line he might have saved us a point, seeing as Fuller beat him to the ball by a yard. Darlow is quick off his line and doesn't stand exactly on his line all the time and would have made that ball first.

I don't mind De Vries at all but he is not the sort of keeper who will save you points when your defence implodes. I'd like to see Evtimov ahead of him though, or there's no point having an academy and training these players up if we're not going to give them a chance or use them.

I'm very pleased to say that Dorus de Vries has signed a two-year extension to his contract, effective from the summer. #nffc

Who's going to flap wildly at corners if Darlow isn't in? Only cost us one goal this weekend.
