I put some apples out for the blackbirds which they were enjoying until someone took his eye off the ball.

It's just starting to get light now when I leave for work.
This morning I walked out the door and was serenaded by a blackbird sat in the tree in the corner of my garden.

Which, as the guy in the fast show used say, was nice.

Finally got round to cleaning out the Bird box from last year's nesting. You have to be impressed with the work and care that goes into building the nest, if you scaled it up it would be the most comfortable bed in the world. The photo is taken side on and it is about as thick as the Great Tit is tall.

Been working on a flood damaged house next to the derwent today, lots of bird activity, Robins and Great Tits in great voice. Then a flock of Long Tailed Tits turned up, lovely little things

Is it a very early nestling? If it is, its parents will probably be around somewhere and should be back to look after it. Looks like it can fly to perch there.

Unfortunately it's now an ex blue tit, found it on the ground a little while ago. Think it may have collided with one of our windows.

That's a shame. Unfortunately lots die from internal injuries even if they survive the initial impact.
