Thumbs up Tank reminds us it could be worse

    Alan Rogers @alanrog3 · Feb 2

Remember megson telling me that Boston have come in for me on loan dead line day. Told him I didn't like America. Fined me 2 weeks wages

    Alan Rogers @alanrog3 · Feb 2

Another megson one.Preseason doing 90 minute runs.I ask why he said a game last 90mins.I know Gary but when's half time. Sent in 1 week fine

    Alan Rogers @alanrog3 · Feb 2

Was wearing tracky bottoms for training in the snow.Told me take them off I refused told him to take his off as well then I will. #fined

    Alan Rogers @alanrog3 · Feb 2

Megson got a dietitian in.Told us we're not allowed to eat anything.Next morning I ordered 40 sausage bacon and egg barms for the lads #fine

And (a slightly dated) video of him singing the praises of the happiest days of his career, and slagging off megson. I found it really interesting, (especially re: losing his place to Ben Thatcher, and the reason for it). Makes you realise not everything is as simple as the armchair fan thinks it is.

Whatever Megson did to that twat wasn't harsh enough.

And years on you're still not embarrassed enough to keep that to yourself.

The irony of another thread quoting a player who says that 'he has never heard of a manager losing a dressing room' at the moment is staggering.

Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.

Can't believe you are sticking up for that ginger prick. What gives him the right to ruin a players career.

He was fookin shite and should never have been employed at this club

I agree in general, aside from when it concerns Alan Rogers

Any chance of a signed copy of your book "How to make friends and influence people" please?

It's great to hear him talk so affectionately about Forest, but if that is what Megson was up against, it might help explain one or two things during that particular era for the club!!

Forest under Kinnear must have been the most unfit bunch we've had relative to the rest of the league. Megson tried to do something about that, and he got some opposition from some of the worst cases.

Disagree, Megson was the twat and Rogers clearly loved the club. It's obvious who I'd believe.

Haven't received my copy of the book, sorry.

Got a copy of the album on cd somewhere, pretty good, give it a listen.

Just shows you what managers are up against when it comes to players challenging their authority. If they don't get it right, it soon goes tits up and the whole squad stops respecting their words.

We should have got Megson back. Clawing back the wages through fines could be the answer to our FFP problems

It reads to me like it was more in defiance than simply not caring about being professional. Perhaps both as Rogers was hardly an Olympian.

Either way both entities were harming the club in different ways. If we think we're a shambles at the moment it's nothing compared to how we were back then.

I'd heard many stories about the players out on the piss regularly.

I wonder if we've ever had a squad who weren't out on the piss regularly...

Once saw Jason Lee in Market Bar on New Year's Eve. Pretty sure he was injured at the time to be fair though.

A group of them used to be regulars at Black Orchid and also on Sunday nights in Yates. Crossley used to smoke like a chimney on nights out though he cadged more cigs than he bought.

I met Dougie Freedman in Black Orchid and he came across as a top bloke.

A very pissed Roy Keane once bought me a pint in Ritzy's.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“
