Default Pearce turns down DoF/Ambassador Role

    Rob Dorsett @Dorselator
Not huge surprise..sources have confirmed Pearce turned down chance of "another role" at #nffc I'm told it was Dir of Football or ambassador
Can't decide which thread but probably deserves its own.

    Good for him.

    Steward Pearce?

Ambassador means fuck all, McGovern has proved that. If it was DOF then I wish he'd taken it.

DoF means nothing if you can't be in charge of which players come to the club. It was just Fawaz trying to curry favour with the fans.

Shame but no surprise. He'd be bang on for a DOF role though.

Indeed, he was already kind of doing the DoF role alongside manager... and that bit was going fine.

Now we are three vital staff members short. It can all be sorted with good appointments in each position. We've got one in, perhaps but we need two more and any CEO is going to want to talk to Pearce and Faulkner before signing.

Think he would have been a brilliant DOF. Not suprised he hasn't taken it but the role would have suited his skills perfectly.

He would have been very good as the director of football. He was good for the academy, the press, the fans, the structure of the club, and buying players. Just, unfortunately not a very good coach, I hope maybe soon he may change his mind and come back.

Good for him, indeed. No man of integrity would accept being moved around after being undermined like he was. I'm referring to Emad's ''he's got 2 games'' tweets here. That was utterly unnecessary and unacceptable.

I suspect Fawaz offered the position to him knowing full well it wouldn't be taken anyway.

Leave the offer open, give him 4/5 months break from the club while the new manager settles in, persuade him back as DoF in summer.

Not a bad idea, it will be too raw for him right now.

Same! F*** you fawaz for sacking a manager that was clearly out of his depth, getting a top 6 side looking like relegation candidates.

In 4/5 months the new manager might be the old manager.

I bet him and Faulkner are slashing his tyres as we speak...

Don't blame him turning it down. You're better off out of here Stuart, unfortunately.

They've told him to clear his desk, only problem is no one has a box big enough for two european cups.

This. His strengths are in the director of football area. In hindsight Fawaz should have offered him this role last year when he turned down the manager post. Not surprised he didn't take it now though.

McGovern is probably on a decent retainer in return for doing very little. When I read his autobiography I was very surprised when realised that I was on more money than him in the mid 80s and I was just a trainee COBOL programmer at the time. Without wishing to question his integrity and remembering he captained us to 2 European Cups and a league title, I suspect that whatever McGovern is drawing off Fawaz is probably not something he could give up without feeling it.
