Frankly, it's good that the TV show has overtaken the books and is going it's own way. They've become rather silly.
That's a good point. I'm not sure the author will ever finish, considering he spends 90% of his time basking in his fame rather than writing, and the last two books were rather so-so. He appears to have lost control of his creation - but will the TV creators be any more capable of tying it all up to the same standard of the rest of the show? When G RR Martin does it well, he does it head and shoulders above the quality of the show, but the quality of the first three books was all achieved in the 90s.

It's almost like HBO are the social services and they've come along to take his children away, for their own good.

I read he was offering fans the chance to pay him $10000 or something like that and he would write them into his new book as a character that gets killed off. Just greedy.

So Sky Atlantic have started showing it from the beginning and I've Sky+ed it to see what the fuss is about.

Halfway through episode 1. At the moment it's only curiosity and the high production values that's keeping me watching. Nothing much seems to be happening and sadly it suffers from what all things of this genre do: A bad case of hamminess.

Do you stop noticing after a while?

Once the killings start and the story develops it gets quite involving.

There's always the breasts, don't forget the breasts.

Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.

And there's going to be even more as The City of Dubrovnik have allowed Lena Headey to do a topless scene in the next season.

Just the thought has turned me into a Junior Andy!

If I remember correctly he wanted a $10,000 donation to a wolf sanctuary, not for himself.

Yes, he plays Ser Ilyn Payne until he had to leave the show because of his cancer treatment.

Hopefully with the recent good news we might see him in the role again.

Reached the end of series 2, amongst the best television I have ever enjoyed, its absolutly brilliant in so many ways.

Along with "Shogun" when I was very young and "Lonesome Dove" when I was a bit older, "Game of Thrones" is brilliant and some of the tv you won't ever forget. I never enjoyed the novels much, and quit after the second one as I think Martin's writing is fairly poor. Suffice to say, he is no Robert Wilson. But the serieson TV? Oh, my. And it just gets better and better. Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister is just brilliant. Prepare for heartbreak and sadness for the next few seasons, sedge.

I hate being told to watch this or that because its brilliant, but this series just had me hooked from the start. Not wishing to spoil anything for anyone else, the demise of a seemingly major character early in the series made me sit up.

Anyone who has enjoyed Bernard Cornwalls books The Warrior Chronicles, should easily understand the genre of the productions.

If GOT was around when I was a teenager I think I'd be blind and pissing out of a hole right now. Good job I've calmed down

Certainly some very attractive young women sprinkled about Westeros, but that red haired lass over the wall, gosh she is stunning.

Whilst not as smitten with the show as most of you, I must admit it has grown on me a lot.

I agree that Dinklage is brilliant, and so is his character.

You might want to stand on cheese instead. Much more pleasant, or see 7 flies.

I love the books. Working my way through them now.

I honestly don't think there has been a better story than GoT's in film or TV ever. It helps that it's being played out by so many great actors.
