Ancelotti may be available quite soon? There's talk of him resigning, because of some Napoli players refusing to go a training retreat, yelling at the owners son (apparently), and the club starting legal proceedings against their own players after the refusal to go on this camp.

Kicker, who are usually pretty clued-up, are saying Wenger „is not an option“ for FC Bayern.

There’s a brilliant piece on That Website today written by Rapha Honigstein, on the tenth anniversary of the death of German goalie Robert Enke, featuring an interview with his wife Theresa.

    Well worth a read.

Also, Bundesliga.com has a very good piece on Robert Enke, highlighting his career and since his death, the foundation that bears his name:

Anyone who hasn’t already done so should read the book, it’s excellent.

Independiente del Valle win the Copa Sudamericana in Asuncion 3-1 over Colon of Argentina. Oddly enough, this is the first trophy, domestic or continental, for them although they were runner-up in the 2016 Copa Libertadores.
As you can see from the 2nd link, it was absolutely pissing down in Asuncion. Congratulations to the Ecuadorians for winning a competition that nobody gave them a chance in.

Also, the Copa Libertadores final on 23 November has been moved from Santiago to Lima due to civil unrest in Chile.

The best we've played all season. Looked like an actual team and everything, so there's a crumb of hope for the future.

Sadly, Rube knicked it at the last as they always do.

Incidentally use of VAR has change in Serie A as the season has progressed. It started out being that farcical thing we saw in the womens world cup (shit house handballs and moustaches being offside) but over recent weeks they've barely used it and it's a massive improvement.

Somehow the lazy twat keeps getting signed. Glad for Seattle the, them and Portland really kept this league going for the last 10 years before the arrivals of LAFC and Atlanta UTD. Portland and Seattle have such dedicated fan bases.

Anyway, from the Bundesliga this weekend, Freiburg-Eintracht stood still 1-0 to the home side, Eintracht making a desperate attempt to equalise in the last minute, the ball is cleared out in to touch...

    ...and this happened:

    https://mobile.twitter.com/btsportfo...letemplates%2f

Freiburg Coach Christian Streich is one of German footballs‘ genuine good guys and has worked miracles at the southwestern Club.

Eintracht‘s David Abraham is correctly Red carded there - and there’s to be a further Club sanction - the Freiburg assistant coach, Florian Bruns, was shown a yellow card and player Vincenzo Grifo, who had been earlier substituted, was shown a straight red after VAR picked him up targeting Abraham in the mêlée.

Kylian M’Bappe to Real Madrid for €400m is today’s gossip:

A fine player, certainly, but that kind of money is insane.

If I had a pound for every time I’ve heard someone say that over the past forty years...

It’s a lot of money, but less than half Real’s annual revenue. It’s the equivalent of Forest buying a £10m player.

He is the only player that has it in him to reach Ronaldo/Messi level

£70m for Ronaldo ages ago looks like a bargain now.

It's still insane, but the football industry is insane, where else in business does nearly every entity lose millions of pounds year on year, decade on decade and still continue to function?

But ya right, lets go a gazillion in debt, nobody givz a fuk so why should we?

To quote my earlier post (bad form, I know) the DFB have acted quickly and have banned David Abraham of Eintracht Frankfurt for the rest of the calendar year (up until the Winter Break) after his shoulder-charge on Freiburg Manager Christian Streich.

He will miss a further six Bundesliga matches now, and can expect a significant fine as well:
