Brazil's approach seems sensible and well-suited to the club and its needs. But since we're recruiting youngsters anyway and we don't have an U23 team, you might benefit from joint recruitment. This young Bosnian we bought (Nemanja Nikolic) looks very impressive for his age, a starter in the first team of the club we brought him from.

And we just agreed terms with Chori, a club legend, to act as a scouter in Spain and Argentina.

Olympiacos keeper was superb last night for the 23s. Also a fantastic free kick from Brennan Johnson, worth a look if you get chance to see it. Good team performance after going down 2-0 at Millwall.Ipswich 23s up next a week on Monday at Portman Road.

Jayden Richardson an unused sub again today for Exeter.

Got a game in a cup match in the week but doesn’t seem to be a first choice starter.

I can't work this out. Are Ipswich playing at home in the red kit? Odd.

This trialist bloke sounds good, who is he?

    The Reds double their lead!

Leeds clear away a corner kick but only to as far of the edge of the box where the Trialist is waiting to control the ball before smashing a bouncing effort through the bodies in the area and into the back of the net!

Both 23s and 18s are top of the league. We've sold high end talent and we have a good hand full of young talent out on loan in the football league.

We continue to promote players in this time. Spooner/Mighten play up with 23s and in recent weeks 2 u15 players (Esapa Osong & Kyle McAdam) have scored for the 18s.

I also see we've beaten a few Prem clubs and Leeds to the signing of Bury teenager Morgan Sadler.

Must have reached 12 by now :P

Fin will probably be a star but at the least will make the most of his talent, seems to be a smart, hard working lad with the right attitude but saying that, most of what comes out of our academy is. (Aside from scoring against Man U he could always be our Dan Matheson)

Signing his scholarship and then his pro contract so early and then announcing it via official Forest channels probably says everything about highly rated he is at the City Ground doesn't it.

If he has his fathers determination and drive to succeed (he already appears to have it), then he will go a very long way in the game.

Another two trialists in the U18 match today. Is it common to have so many trialists during the season, or are you just short in numbers?

Over here, trials and transfers usually occur only during the transfer window.

Believe the one is former Fulham youth Frankie Amorketu.

Forest prefer to keep compact squads. Players with 23s and injuries. But we also like to use our talented 16s/15s in 18s and the club manage that well.

James Clarridge in the 16s is the next we need to make sure we can can keep and provide a pathway as no doubt like some of our previous groups there will be interest from some of England and Europes top clubs. Been injured this season but last season he was playing with the 18s and trained with 23s like he belonged and like Back the group before.

Looks like this years 15s like that are McAdam and Osong. McAdam started as a CM who then fell back to LCB in his own age group but been used as a midfielder and attacker for 18s.

I think I have asked this before, but I don't remember the answer. Do you have affiliated academies outside Nottingham? We have a vast network of 45 affiliated academies in Greece, and several abroad (four in Cyprus, two in the USA, one in Australia, and now there will be more, in Canada, Sweden and China).

It works in the following manner: the affiliated academy uses the brand name for a fee, and its coaches are regularly advised and monitored by our academy, while its players are often tested for inclusion to our academy. The idea is to transform the network of affiliated academies to a vast scouting network for young players.

I would find it hard to believe that we would have anything as far reaching and well organised as that.

Yeah, I mean the club has been languishing in the 2nd tier for some time and we had an owner in Fawaz Al Hasawi who didn't invest in it and is the sole reason we aren't Cat 1 academy in name as he was the owner when all the change happened and he just left us.

Under Nigel Doughty & years before we had a particular strong interest in Irish talent. We had club partnerships like with Crumlin but we never have had academy hubs.

Under Brazil we focus what we can control and that is Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Northern Leicestershire and Derbyshire. Then it is about trust in a few people who give tip offs from London, big clubs in Lancashire etc Bring them in on trial and see is how we have been operating.

I think that is what has been the highlight of Brazil's time. With Derby/Leicester being Cat 1 his main focus was always going to be closer to home and he got to work with things like this from the beginning. Making sure we give the best to Nottinghamshire talent.

    Forest team up with NFC

Nottingham Forest have teamed up with the Nottingham Football Centre to help find and develop professional players of the future.

The Nottingham Football Centre (NFC) will be based on the site of Rushcliffe School in West Bridgford, with the latest approved playing surfaces and floodlit pitches are being laid in preparation of the facility’s opening.

Forest-licensed coaches will be taking sessions at NFC and club academy staff will be watching on to identify talented players.

Academy manager Gary Brazil said: “You only have to look at the current first-team squad to see that opportunities are there for local children.

“Ben Osborn, Jamaal Lascelles, Tyler Walker and Karl Darlow are all great examples of this and, by joining forces with NFC, we hope together we can give aspiring local talent the opportunity to progress.”

“An opportunity to progress” Gary Brazil Academy Manager.

Focussing on the "local market", so to speak, makes sense in your case. I wasn't suggesting you should have a network of affiliated academies throughout the UK as we do throughout Greece. We have a comparative advantage, in the sense that our brand name is better than the competition's. You would not be able to compete with the academies of Arsenal, Manchester City etc. on a national level, at least for the time being. So I think getting the best talent of Nottinghamshire and moulding it into potentially first-team players is a wise choice.

Some sort of national scouting network would be useful though, especially since you have a good name for giving academy players a chance.
