He wouldn't be the first name on the teamsheet for me, not even close.

I'd rather get the likes of Hobbs, Cohen and Fox out of the way first - easier to spell than Assombalonga.

He's definitely earned the right to be 'must play' status. I guess it's a major bonus that we've got about 7 of them.

I seem to be almost on my own here, but I thought he was getting a bit overconfident and selfish towards the end of last season. Trying to beat too many opposition players in mazy dribbles and generally hogging the ball. A few nice touches as well, mind you.

I think he has bags of talent and Psycho is bringing him on slowly.

Disappointing that he's seemingly fallen out of favour.

Where would he play though? I wouldn't take anyone out of the attacking area at the minute

I don't mind him not starting. But I'd rather he came on than Mclaughlin

Plenty of time for Pato to get his chance this season. Will be up to him to impress when the opportunity does come along.

Well Pearce prefers Mclaughlin and Paterson had his chance to impress against Tranmere and he didn't we know Pearce is a straight bloke once Pato starts getting back into last seasons form he'll replace Mclaughlin. If being left out doesn't spur him to try harder then he proves Pearce right.

Pearce must know what he did last season so not sure why he doesn't seem to fancy him, probably his attitude, it's gone to his head. He needs to knuckle down and impress SP

We've played 3 games one of which he's started. Do we need to worry about this? I wouldn't want to mess with our attack at the moment anyway

It's early days and there are plenty of games to play yet. From what he's said SP is reminding him that he can't rest on his laurels. I'm sure he'll get game time as the season progresses.

Noticed SP went out of his way to mention him post match today, as reassurance to Pato and to us that there's no problem. Used a phrase like 'when he matures as a player', suggesting they're working on a couple of minor flaws that need taking out of his game before he reappears as a world-beater.

Although the jury is still out on Mclaughlin for me. Not seen much of him, but hasn't done much to impress when I have either. May be brill in years to come, but Pato could be the difference between 1 & 3pts in games like todays too.

Agreed mate. I think McLaughlin is destined to be a meh player. Probably suited to somewhere like Bristol or Doncaster. Be happy for him to prove me wrong though.
