Again, we're just not consistent enough which if you look at our team makes sense. Didn't strengthen in the areas we were lacking last season and we're paying for it in some games.

Play-offs this season and I'd consider that a majorly good season especially considering our attack depth and lack of pace throughout he squad. Keep Lamouchi and the core of this squad and we're good money for automatics next season.

... though it is the championship and Leeds could do their annual collapse and we could nick it.

Very soft peno for Albion, but the Preston keeper at fault for being so slow off his line.

Fine margins in this crap league.

No stopping them this year. Got the balance right, barely letting any goals in, think they have 11 clean sheets?

They were lucky to keep a clean sheet today mate, woeful finishing from Hudds.

But luck tends to fortune the strong teams.

    Sheep lose
    QPR beat PNE
    Wednesday beat Brentford
    Brizzle City win at Fulham
    Leeds win at Hudd

That leaves us 5th. Not bad but we need to start winning again.

Keeps us in the playoffs, if we stay thereabouts till January and get the right players in I think we can stay there. I think auto’s are a really tall order now.

Automatic promotion was never realistic given the strength of Leeds and West Brom. They're just too strong.

We have the core of a playoff side, it's just lacking that icing in attack that would have seen us at least score against Cardiff and put Millwall to the sword second half when we were the better side.

The problem is I'm not sure this can be achieved in January. The quality we need is hard to find at the best of times, much less in a free-for-all month where prices are inflated.

Personally I'm expecting one or two in but nothing spectacular and hopefully it'll be enough to hang on to sixth.

I'd say that's an accurate assessment. We were never in the running for the top 2, our squad just simply isn't good enough.

We need at least 3 signings (winger, creative/attacking midfielder and a striker) to guarantee a play off spot, but the chances of getting all three (and of them being of sufficient quality) is incredibly slim.

Barring a miraculous January window, we will either just scrape 5th/6th or just miss out on the play offs IMO.

Ideally them and Leeds win every game now till the end of the season (bar the ones against us)

I think Leeds will drop away over Xmas a decent amount mate. Fixtures have been kind to them so far. Here's their Xmas/NY run.....

21 December Fulham v Leeds United
26 December Leeds United v Preston North End
29 December Birmingham City v Leeds United
1 January West Brom v Leeds United

That's a tough fucking 12 days! Whereas they're last 6 games were against QPR, Luton, Blackburn, Boro, Reading & Udders. 5 bottom table sides, highest placed out the lot 11th.

If we sign the winger & striker we should have 18 months ago, and another energetic midfielder, in Jan we'll overtake them

    Not that difficult really.

Fulham tend to struggle against the better sides in this league and are largely where they are at the moment because they are efficient at beating the poorer ones. Leeds should beat them.

After a great start, Preston are dropping like a stone and have just lost 4 in a row (including getting battered 4-0 by Hull). Leeds should be able to beat them.

Birmingham are bang average, so another Leeds win there is quite likely.

So that leaves West Brom, who are the best side in the league. Leeds will probably lose that one, but it'll hardly be a disaster for them as they will likely still be miles ahead of whoever is 3rd at that point.

I don't see anyone catching them, and if someone does then it won't be us.

Good stuff WBA. Can see them running away with it, so definitely want them to beat all our competition for a play-off spot.
