    One thing I really hope Pearce gets rid of is short corners. It baffled me when we had people like Hobbs, Halford, Lascelles and Henderson in the box they insisted on taking short corners which 9.5 times out of 10 failed miserably.

    On average, the data show that a corner is good for (drumroll ....) 0.022 goals. This means that the average EPL team scores 1 goal from a corner about every 10 games. And this helps to explain the lack of a correlation between the number of corners and goal scoring. The infrequency of the goals from corners combined with a lack of dispersion between teams in corners per game lead conspire to make corners mostly, well, useless when it comes to scoring goals.

    Still, it's fun getting excited and cheering when we get a corner

    i went in a chippy once in Nottingham and their was a full size cardboard cut out of Pearce and when i looked around the place it was like a shrine!
    have to admit even as a ram admired him in an England shirt, loathed him in a forest shirt Don't know which one is a bigger compliment to him.

    To be fair mate, they failed 9.5 times out of 10 when they sent the corner kicks straight in.

Had we embraced our natural style more instead of trying to be another Spain etc. we'd have faired far better as a nation overall. Yes we needed to evolve, no we don't need to "sell out".

    Secondly this is the fucking Championship. Every single criticism ever towards a defensive/physical/workmanlike approach ignores how this league works. Yes we wanna be playing decent footy, but being hard to beat helps loads in such an unpredictable league. Just ask Hull.

    A fine article that.

    Much of the criticism of Mr. Pearce's under-21 reign neglects to mention he was consistently denied access to the best players and virtually every squad was decimated by mysterious "injuries" before tournaments.

    Oh well, sometimes it's a case of right man, right place.

    I don't care really, it's STUART FUCKING PEARCE.

    If as a Forest fan that doesn't get you buzzing, you need to do something else on a Saturday.

    People also forget he qualified for 4 major tournaments on the bounce more than any other team.

    Like he's said in previous interviews he was told when he took over at City to keep them in the Premiership with little money...he did that twice.

    He finished 15th & 14th with only 13mil spent in those 2 seasons and losing SWP for 26mil and a few others in the process...yes they didn't score many goals but he kept them in the Premiership on 13mil I'll take 14th/15th finishes every season and spending only 6/7mil every season.

    People don't really look at the bigger picture and just have him down as a bad manager because City didn't score many goals...

    His reign so far

    - Appointed well-renowned staff all throughout the club
    - Said 'we need strikers', so he bought some strikers
    - Talked about new Lansbury contract
    - Valued our young talent correctly
    - Said galvanise about 500 times
    - Gone running around Nottingham in the rain
    - Established a distinctive training ground stance

    Technically he's only been in charge for a week and a half

    He has inspired me to bid for a house in Colwick just so I can stand in the rain on the loop road and fist pump, shouting words of encouragement as he powers past.

    - Cleared out a boat load of dross;
    - Made amends with a few in the media;
    - Made a lot of Forest fans buzz again;
    - Been involved with various duties which most would say require a CEO and completed them no sweat.

    You should hold a house warming for when he runs past

    I think it's come to the point where I'd take some pretty shit defensive performances if it gets us up. I used to be all about pretty football, but there's nowt pretty about losing

    I'd be happy playing attractive football and winning nothing if we were pitched like Arsenal - regularly in the Champions League spots. But, yeah, let's first just try to win ugly until we're up there.
