Default Hen Night or Forest vs Derby?

Major dilemma...one of my good friends from university is getting married in March. Her wedding clashes with a home game which I have already resigned myself to missing (my third home game all season which I'm not happy about)

However this morning I got an email from her about her hen weekend which is on 21st February. I quickly worked out that this was probably home game so was in two minds about whether to miss yet another home game. But felt bad at considering missing the hen night of one of my good friends (although I don't see her that often anymore)

But when I looked this morning, I discovered it is the Derby game at home! Surely I can't miss that?!

Maybe I could get the train up to Liverpool straight after the game, although I've no idea how long that takes and if it would fit in with her plans.

I hate people who get married during the football season....

Train to Liverpool from Nottingham takes three hours, so you wouldn't be there til way after 8pm.

Can't you get her to move the hen night to the friday?

Probably not as people are coming from all over the country so Saturday seems more convenient.

Unless the kick off was pulled forward to 1pm for the same reason as you mentioned in another thread? Here's hoping

Be worth contacting Forest about the likelihood of an early kick off - I would say there's a good chance of it happening.

If so then it's definitely trainable after the game.

I had a similar dilemma for the same weekend. I chose the stag weekend (which is in Edinburgh) as there will always be more Forest v Derby games in the future. Hey presto, we drew them in the FA Cup. I would add in mitigation that when I decided we were playing badly!

But I might also be missing them in the cup game as well due to another friend's bridesmaid dress shopping!

What's with all my friends getting married?!

I reckon I'm going down Winnits' route and pin my hopes on it being an early kick off and being able to get the train to Liverpool afterwards.

Ask the club, they might know already - I imagine the police are keen for them to move the kick off.

I missed the City game for a wedding, bastards.

Had we made the play off final rather than an embarrassing slump against Yeovil, I would've missed that for a wedding too!

    Friends can be bastards.

I agree, I definitely think there should be a ban on weddings during the football season. Although I could probably stretch to an exception for international breaks.

I will email the club and cross my fingers.

Well I kind of know what I want to do but wanted the members of this forum to justify it for me....

Twice as many people think I should go to the game.

She is also doing something on the Sunday night so I think I will take a long weekend, travel up straight after the game (should be there for 9pm) and stay til Monday.

I think that sounds like a decent compromise right?

Then it will be a bonus if the kick off does get brougth forward.

Given that with the likelihood of promotions/relegations, we're unlikely to play the sheep again until they get promoted...

It's a no-brainer, Liz. See you at the game.........

By "relegation battle", do you mean 7th, 12th or 14th?

If it's a case of one or the other, go to the hen night. There are things in life more important than football.

    Liz,

Go to the match it's a must regardless of KO time. After the final whistle drive to Liverpool (2 1/4 hrs) im sure you wont get lost especially when you buy the GPS you promised yourself.

    I'm sick of it

Yay even the girls are telling me to go to the football!

I have bought myself satnav so I can shoot up to Liverpool straight after the game without getting lost - the comedy club starts at 8:30pm so should have plenty of time to get there, drop my car and meet the girls in town.

Took some advice from someone on here and didn't attempt to lie. Told the truth about the importance of the game and how if it was any other game I'd miss it (and that I'm missing one a month later for the wedding).

My friend was fine with it as all I'm missing is the meal but I'll be there for the hardcore drinking and naughtiness! In face she seemed more concerned about me turning up in Liverpool all on my own!
