Smile 2014/15 new shirt.... too early to start speculating?

Now the season is over, is it too early to start speculating about next year's shirt? I hope, given a year to think about it, we get something a little more customised next season from adidas. But the new templates aren't too bad, I've taken the liberty of mocking up the new condivo and tabela ones with Forest logos for your consideration. The tabela is very close to the classic 70s design.

    Any thoughts? Spike?

Some sort of subtle diamond/geometric pattern on the main body would be nice

We will just get a template design again.

Forest simply aren't a big enough draw for Adidas to give us something "personal" at present.

By "relegation battle", do you mean 7th, 12th or 14th?

    (serious hat on)

150th anniversary season (since all you prols celebrated the Millennium at the end of 1999, instead of the end of 2000..)

    Something befitting, please.

How about the City crest on the Away shirt and the Jolly Forester on the 3rd kit.

Just get rid of the Leicester away kit.

The club have apparently said that the 2015-16 season will be the "official" 150th anniversary celebration.

And whilst I'd love to see the "Coat of Arms" badge again, no doubt Councillor Collins and his merry bunch of twats will assert copyright over the design, much in the way we had to change the badge in the 1970s!

I agree with getting rid of the blue, I'm not a fan of using random non-club colours in the away kit. I know the yellow/blue ones hark back to the glory days but I've always preferred white shirt with red trim for away.

I would love that yellow mock up someone did a year or two ago as the 150th design.

It'll be the same as 15 other clubs because Adidas are too fucking lazy to do bespoke designs.

    Bring back Umbro.

You'd think someone would have a word with adidas and say look we were having a mid life crisis when your Liverpool's and your Chelseas were still shitting in their nappies in terms of age of the club.... Make an effort.

    We need a new sponsor.

    Perhaps a toilet paper company.

    I heartily agree.

I did like the black and green away kit from a few years ago.

    Quite a bit actually.

Oh god, that has to happen. Would love the old crest on a white away top, with red trim.

Umbro did do some excellent kits for us, but all manufacturers use "templates", including them. It's just perhaps not as obvious as adidas because of their use of the three stripes. I don't think it's laziness that kit manufacturers produce shirts this way, it's more a way of the club buying into their particular look. Back in the old days there was only one template for each manufacturer and that's what you got. Think of the classic early 80s Forest adidas shirt. That was identical to the one worn by Ipswich, Birmingham, Middlesbrough etc. Umbro were the same - Chelsea, Wolves, West Brom, Man City.

Personally as long as a templates is good, I'm not that unhappy with it, I really like our current home shirt for example. But I know from reading kit review websites there are a lot of fans who judge kits by their originality. Perhaps because only the biggest clubs get bespoke kits from the big manufacturers. Even for them though there are templates - think Chelsea and Bayern Munich; only the slightest difference between their 2013/14 shirts!

It's laziness because the kit maker brings in maybe three or four template kits and adds a clubs' colours to the template.

At least Umbro seemed to try.

I really like the one on the left in the original post. Subtle but attractive.

I think Uncle Faz needs a new logo though. Using 'Impact' font in a professional circumstance is a bit silly

Cool, can't wait to see them

I just googled the template names and found them that way. This article was where I got the info about the new ones, it shows the other 14/15 ones as well. http://www.footyheadlines.com/2013/0...wear-kits.html

When Adidas decided they were going to make lime green their colour across their entire range a couple of years ago, nobody was too big to avoid it. The fewer themes the better for the brands. I heard Adidas running reps the year before say 'Adidas is going green' and no kidding, they went nuts with it. Any Adidas sponsored athlete you saw across all sports wore green. Odd to think they could make a colour their signature for a year, but running shoes, football boots, etc haven't been multi-coloured for long so making their entire range an in-your-face green made them instantly recognisable as Adidas. The Adizero range of apparel (the top line that the pros compete in) was also this colour.

Adidas and Nike want to stick everybody a similar kit, whether it be colours, or more easily a template. In the World Cup we will see a load of countries wearing the same templates. It isn't lazy when Forest wear a template that other teams wear, it is intentional. We are part of 'Team Adidas', they'd love us to all look the same. 'The Blues', the 'best football team in Europe' that year didn't even have blue training kit. Nigel Doughty's links with Umbro may have helped us before. But we'll likely get a template, and even the biggest clubs aren't entirely safe from that despite the bigger kit deals.

Actually without the "Fawaz Fridges" part it's not a bad logo. At least it's not one of those multi non-club-colour monstrosities defiling the strips of so many other teams

Fawaz isnt sponsoring us next season though is he? I thought this year was a stop gap whilst other investors were brought in?

    Wow! I missed that one.

One other trend for world cup kits is having one main colour (same for shirt, shorts and socks). It's been plagueing goalie kits for years and now it's spread! England, Spain and Germany have all gone this way.
