Thread: Old players

    Default Old players

What are the forum thoughts on using the old Players factory site on lenton lane to be the site of the new forest ground ? I know it's unfortunate that after all these years the industry has to go, but moving forward, the site could be ideal. Close to ring road, tram line (when up & running) park & ride nearby, right side of the river.

Call one end 'the Nub End'.
Forest fans will roll up in their thousands.
    It would cost a packet.
    Etc. Yawn.

    1 Sad to see yet another part of Nottingham's industrial heritage go the way of Raleigh etc;
2 We could call the new Stadium "Tobacco Road"
3 We could devise lots of songs to the catchy hook to the song of that name...

Who would take the 'No.6' and No. 10' shirts?
Would local derbys be against 'Chesterfield'?
Who would be the first to have a 'Lucky Strike'?
To be honest, it would all feel 'dunhill' from here?

But the thread is a valid point

We need to move (in the future) in order to compete.

Although the site is large the access roads are quite small, getting 40000 (lol) folks in and out quickly would be a nightmare.

So it would need to create much better access.

Something has to give. We can't keep turning away 10,000 fans before every home game.

Got to agree with you plus trying to get on the season ticket waiting list is an absolute nightmare

What, no more, "Mist rolling in from the Trent"?

Was once asked to play for England.

A new Bridge from the A453 south of Clifton, and a relief road across Beeston flood plane would sort that out. Mind it wouldn't arf piss the NIMBYs off.

Like the idea, but building a new stadium in a residential area is a bit of a non-starter these days. Realistically, it would have to be somewhere near Gamston/Holme Pierpont or just build a new Main Stand at the City Ground. Either way, it will be 5 years minimum before any decision like that needs to be taken.

We could however do something with the Imperial Tobacco site near Boots if we did ever move.

To be fair the river is not that far away from this site. Like all funny comments, made me chuckle. I wonder where they would put the players entrance & tunnel?

It is only yards from the Trent next to Clifton bridge, last time I looked.
